About Venango County, PA

Venango County is located in western Pennsylvania on Lake Erie's southern shoreline with Clarion county forming its northern border. The largest city and county seat is Franklin followed by Oil City as its second-largest city. Other towns include Barkeyville Boroughs as well as Allegheny Township/Roulette Townships among others. According to a 2020 estimate by the United States Census Bureau Venango had 54386 individuals living there at that time making it one of Pennsylvania's smallest counties in terms of population density while at 476 sq mi (1 230 km2) it remains one of its larger geographical areas. Much like Tioga with coal mining developing in 19th century so too did oil drilling here shortly before ~1859 with both industries playing a great role in Venangos culture & economy up until modern times where now tourism plays a key role due being home many parks & recreational sites such Allegheny National Forest & Seneca Rocks providing activities such as hunting camping fishing skiing boating whitewater rafting etc.
