Massachusetts offers exceptional college options from its highly regarded state system to a significant number of private colleges. Massachusetts is home to some prestigious schools, such as Harvard and MIT, as well as other highly regarded educational institutions. Colleges are primarily centered around Boston and Worcester, which has 10 colleges/universities. UMass Amherst, which is located in central Mass, is the state's flagship college among five different college locations. It is a highly regarded institution with a broad curriculum choice and does a substantial amount of research. the state's colleges/universities offer both a broad range of curriculums as well as specialized, such as pharmacy. Aside from CA, Mass is probably recognized as one of the country's best states for post high school education.

Massachusetts - 6/3/2015

Massachusetts, especially the Boston area, is a great place to live. Well over 50 colleges and universities within a 100 mile radius so the entire region is always changing with the new student population every fall. The challenge with the area is the cost of living which certainly is high. Housing drives the cost as well as utilities so if you are on a tight budget and you are not a student be prepared to scale back the size of your home or move way outside the city. Nevertheless, it's a great place to live especially in the summer months.

considering moving to fla naplles cape coral more interested in the gulf side would like to spend 225 pros and cons it is so cold here almost may and I have the heat on trying not to be right on top of neighbors lots seem very small

Berkshires - 2/9/2015

I have lived in the Berkshires since childhood! It's a beautiful place but times have changed and as you grow older you realize there is less here for you to experience! Well known for arts and theater the mountains and lakes are spectacular, but at this point in my life I'm looking for some honing different!

Boston - 6/6/2014

We have great...universities,hospitals,museums,dining,convenient public transportation,history,people look out for each other,right on the ocean,fresh seafood and lobstah.. Not so great...taxes,traffic,parking,rent/mortages,crime rates,homelessness,shopping,winter weather,potholes, triple deckers or houses practically on top of each other Just my opinion..I'm 43 and was born and raised here..but looking for a change from the hustle and bustle of a major city..I'm a litle tired of the rat race and noise..ready for a porch and rocking chairs..:)

IF YOU'RE POOR MOVE TO MA!! - 11/14/2013

Great state to live in??? Anyone reviewing this state as a great place to live proves ignorance of people living here. Cost of housing totally out of control. Try to hire someone in this state for any services. Good luck if anything's done right!! Guess people out here are accustomed to accept poor workmanship on anything done. If something done to perfection, I always ask what state their from. So funny - NEVER from Massachusetts. State highways' median never groomed. Carolinas you see beautiful flowing flowers on your highways. As far as hospitality??? MA residents don't know the meaning of the word. Most rudest people out of any state I've lived in or visited. Great schools? For everyones info, yes, Harvard and MIT rated tops. Maybe because more than 50% applicants accepted not from MA. Know this for a fact - worked for a Harvard/MIT attorney who conducted the interviews. Grade schools and High Schools below par. Even in private schools - good luck. Teaching children how to tell time in 1st and 2nd grade?? Give me a break. If you are a working class person this is not the state for you. On the other hand, if you have nothing, this is the state for you. Free housing, foodstamps, medical, everything!!! Don't even have to be a citizen!! MA truly supports the whole MEDICAID system!! Come and get it - ordinary working person can't afford dental procedure but noncitizen can! State pays for it! As for someone mentioning Everett as a wonderful place to live??? Ah, is that why it's one of the most desirable places to put a casino? Doesn't that, in itself, tell it like it really is?? MA lovers - try a normal state. You wouldn't survive with you're great hospitality!! By the way, regarding private schools in MA, our great President Bush, George W., attended PHILLIPS ACADEMY in town next to me. Remember the Bushisms??? Ha, ha!!

I live the in the greater boston area and love it. It has all the season and is resonably priced for living. there is always something going on and it isnt that hard to keep yourself entertained.

Health Care - 6/5/2012

It's expensive but top notch. Universal health care made it much easier for me to decide start a business because I didn't have to worry about whether whether my family could actually get access to health insurance.

Just too much - 4/1/2012

Love Mas and the Berkshires. Culture, scenery, proximity to so many great things but a two person income here of $80,000 is almost poverty. Housing, utilities and lack of good paying jobs are crushing this state. Lived here my whole life but getting too expensive to stay. Sad!

Clinton MA - 10/3/2011

Clinton MA is a terrific New England town bordered by Lancaster to the north, Bolton to the northeast, Berlin to the east, Boylston to the south, and Sterling to the west. It was named after the DeWitt Clinton Hotel in New York, a favorite place of the town's founders, Erastus Brigham Bigelow and his brother Horatio.The population in 2010 was 13,606. If you enjoy the historical appeal of a former mill town you may like Clinton. Clinton became a small industrialized mill town, using the Nashua River as a source for water power. Railroads came to the town to serve this industry, including the Boston, Clinton, Fitchburg and New Bedford Railroad (Fitchburg Branch of the Old Colony Railroad), the Central Massachusetts Railroad, and the Worcester, Nashua and Rochester Railroad (the last two later merged into the Boston and Maine Railroad). By 1890, Clinton was noted for its manufacturing of carpets and woven wire. The average income here is between 40 and 50,000. Clinton MA offers a simple way of life and is the first town west of 495 to offer a more affordable standard of living. It has a country feel in some places, good access to major highways 495 and 190, grocery stores, CVS, Walgreens, Dunkin Donuts, Gas stations and even a Russian Icon museum. The Wachusette Dam is an interesting feat of mankind and worth exploring. The town common has got to be award-winning because it is beautiful and on par with the Public Gardens of Boston. There is great hiking at the Nashua River Walk or any of the fire roads around the reservoir Overall, the down town area has everything you need and the people here really pull together to help each other out. Kimball Farm on Route 70 offers delicious ice-cream, antique car shows and a gift shop full of goodies. The car shows in summer are a huge draw.

Housing Expensive - 7/14/2011

For anyone who rents, the average rent is over $1,000 for just a one bedroom apartment. Utilities are not bad but its best if you can find a rental that includes heat and hot water. That will help. Boston is a great walking town.
