| A place to Live and Visit - 4/18/2022
What an amazing place to live. No place is perfect but the people here are friendly with several parks nearby and many miles of trails from Road Biking to MBT. Check out the lakes and fishing along with all the local food/brewers!

| You come for cheap housing and cry 'no culture'! - 8/16/2021
Take a hike if you don't like different points of view, religious or generally conservative people. No one will miss you. California has been going in the wrong direction for a long time, from my point of view and Redding suffers like many small communities. Some move here thinking you can save a buck on housing but want all the services they can only find in the upscale high priced areas they cannot afford. You can blame Amazon, Walmart and the other big box stores for there being a lack of mom and pops. There a many fine shops in Redding and people remember your face. You don't get that in Palo Alto, Cupertino, Atherton etc... where you can find your fine wine, vinegar, art shops etc... There are some science deniers in Redding but it seems the real science deniers are in the CDC these days who say vaccines are better than natural immunity. What? Since when? If you believe them you're a fool. Government has definitely been letting us down lately and people in Redding are not afraid to say it.
I know many Bethel students and congregants. They are fine, law abiding people who pay their rent on time and are good hardworking citizens who put their families first. That is what makes the foundation of a good community.
This is Trump country thank no doubt but not even 80%. No politician is perfect but he's hands down superior to uncle Joe and the cons to put him in the oval office. I don't fault the voters because, the truth is, Trump won in a landslide.
Redding suffers from the California exodus that affects small businesses and manufacturers state wide. The beautiful surroundings cannot make up for that. We need a state government that is focused on keeping businesses, lowering costs and regulation and working to solve the many problems that all communities are facing statewide.
Of course I am being blunt not because I'm in insensitive fellow. I think Redding has many great qualities that far too many reviewers here fail to see or comment on. They're missing a lot of the good things that people love about the town.

| Don't move here! - 3/16/2021
I retired to Redding 6 years ago and I can truthfully say that I made a huge mistake. If you are looking to move to an area that has; thriving arts scene, gourmet dining, cultural diversity, an enlightened forward thinking community, politicians that are a credit to their community, DO NOT move to Redding. Redding is an ultra-conservative community with virtually zero cultural diversity. The city of Redding is filled with boarded up businesses, homeless everywhere, open drug dealing, one of the highest rates of car theft in Calif. Redding has 1 bookstore....Barnes & Nobel, 1 wine shop...BevMo, no art galleries downtown & very little thriving retail. A city of 100,000 people and 1 bookstore should tell you volumes about the intelec of this community. The Congressman that represents this area voted to overturn our Presidental election, is a science denier, supports QAnon insanity & has refuse repeatedly to denounce White Supremacy. Redding is in the grip of Bethel Church....an organization that promotes gay conversion with prayer and resurecting the dead. Bethel has permeated our city & county gov't. They are powerful and a curse on this part of Calif. Our local , City& County, politicians continually talk about " protecting our Second Amendment Rights.....while refusing to wear masks and ignoring the multitude of problems in our community. This is Trump country & damn proud of it! Disgusting!

| Redding -- A small city on the rise - 11/13/2020
I've lived in Redding for 10+ years and the city has made great strides to showcase it's true identity. Redding has endless outdoor recreation opportunities (national and state parks, waterfalls, hundreds of miles of trails) and capitalizes on those features. There's been a focus on enjoying and savoring what is in our own backyard and creating inviting spaces with downtown revitalization and new business development, and positive sentiment that the city is evolving and improving. Redding is definitely on the rise as a sought-after place to live.

| Most Underrated City In Northern California. - 11/13/2020
My wife and I moved here from Southern Oregon in 2019. Before then, we loved coming to visit Redding, California, and the unique culture here. I have traveled to many cities and states in my lifetime and have yet to find a diverse place as Redding, California. There are tons of very great high-end coffee shops such as Theory Coffee Roasters, Evergreen Coffee Shop, Heritage Coffeehouse, and many others. When the weather is nice (which is almost every day of the year), the Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay is a beautiful place to take a walk. We love being able to rent the Bird Scooters and zip alongside the Sacramento River. During the summer months, Whiskeytown and Shasta Lake are perfect little getaways that provide so much fun. There is no better place to stay if you are visiting than the Sheraton Redding Hotel at the Sundial Bridge. You are within walking distance of the Sundial Bridge and the Mosiac Restaurant with high-quality food and fantastic service! For shopping, be sure to check out the cutest clothing boutique, Carousel, on Yuba Street for stylist-curated collections!

| Redding's a Great Place to Live - 11/13/2020
Redding's a great place to live - the scenery's gorgeous, the weather's great, and there's a lot of recreation opportunities. It's the perfect size too - small enough that you don't have to worry about traffic or long commute times, but large enough that you can find a lot of the stores and businesses that you'd expect form a larger city.

| Outdoor Enthusiast Dream Location - 11/13/2020
I've lived in Redding for more than a decade. I love it here, you are one hour from a ski park, several lakes famous for watersports and fishing. Literally hundreds of square miles of camping and hiking national and state parks. Redding, CA is smack dab in the middle of an outdoor enthusiast dream.

| Great Small Town City with Wonderful People - 5/4/2020
Redding is a great place to live and raise a family. Wonderful people and amazing outdoor activities. Definitely a smaller town feel than some larger urban areas but with that comes a unique charm. If you love the outdoors, this is a great place to be!

| Redding is still Small Town Americana - 4/27/2020
I've lived in dozens of communities throughout the world. Redding is a safe place with endless recreation opportunities. You can snow ski and water ski in the same day! Houses prices are very competitive and the sense of community is amazing! There are several events to choose from each night and the downtown is booming!

| Redding is a great place to live - 3/9/2020
I grew up here, moved away, lived in big cities, traveled the world, and decided to come back to Redding to stay. It's so beautiful here with lots of outdoor recreational opportunities, a sense of freedom and community. And I actually LOVE the hot summers for swimming, ice cream, warm evenings for stargazing and camping. The amount of sunshine here is a perpetual mood-booster. Once Redding is truly discovered for the gem that it is, there will be no stopping the flow of people rushing to live here. With a little more commercial development in the form of shopping and eating establishments, Redding would be my perfect 5 star city.

| Booming! - 2/26/2020
Sprouts is opening, today 2/26/2020, Home goods opens next month. Tons of construction going on around town and downtown. The city has been working hard to clean up homelessness and create more open spaces. Also over 6 million has just been approved to expand Caldwell park that will include a new Mountain Bike park! Look up Reinventing Redding and other news articles about the boom that is happening in Redding and see for your self. The city has been named the highest paying city for RNs adjusted for Cost of living. Glad we moved here! The last affordable area to live in California.

| Redding CA = terrible! - 1/28/2020
I have lived in Redding 4 years and I can truthfully say it is one of the worst places I have ever lived in my 70 years. The downtown area has no bookstores, no art galleries, no culture of any kind, full of drug addicts & crime, abandoned business dominate the area. The restaurants are marginal , zero night life. Redding has become a theocracy due to Bethel Church. Bethel members have taken over the city gov't. Ultra conservative area with neanderthal politicians representing that are beholden to Bethel. Redding is no place to visit, retire or stop by. Skip this place and you'll be happy! Crime is out of control and gets worse with time.

| Family just moved here and love it!!! - 12/5/2019
Me and the family just moved here about 6 months ago and just love it! Love the surroundings, love the schools and the community. The city is moving forward and is up and coming. You can tell from the support the community gets during the local events and all the building they are doing throughout the whole city especially downtown. Remember there will always be people complaining no matter what city you look up. Same complaints different city. There always just people who complain but not willing to do anything to help or add anything positive to their community. Its a small city with big city amenities, from costco about to be 2 of them, a mall, your typical big box office stores like wal mart , target, best buy etc.... most of the big fast foods including now 2 IN and Outs and a big 14 screen luxury theatre. There is even a water park here. What you wont find people sitting in traffic and long commutes. In my own opinion because of the high cost of living in the Bay Area and now in Sacramento, there will be a good number of people who want to live somewhere affordable and still be close to family will seriously start looking at Redding. I have already met quite a few people from different parts of California and other states also who recently relocated here.

| Dead-end town for dead-end people. - 11/28/2019
I've lived in Redding for the 26 years that I have been alive, and never have I not been disgusted by this town. It is full of degenerate right-wing neo-Nazis and drug addicts, and rich corporate losers who want to pretend to be cowboys. Almost everyone in this town is a complete backwater moron who talks too much just to hear the sound of their own voice. Don't live in Redding. If you live here, run far away.

| Overrun with Bethel Cult members and druggies - 10/23/2019
I lived in Redding 20 years. Redding used to have a pretty decent housing market compared to the rest of the state. But in the last 20 years the town has been taken over by Bethel cult, they are buying up all the houses and apartments and only renting to their students putting a huge strain on the market and compounding an already growing homeless problem. There is also a really bad drug epidemic due to the complete lack of mental health resources. It's become very expensive to live here and you're either constantly harrassed by homeless people or cult members. What's more is the income tax is more than double the national average yet our roads are in constant disrepair, no resources to help the less fortunate, and the cops are crooked criminals themselves. The town is filled with the skeletons of failed businesses, meth heads, homelessness, cult members and has a high crime rate.

| Run far from Redding, I did and am so happy!!! - 4/23/2019
I recently left Redding after 20 years of trying to stay alive there and moved to the Midwest. The first month here i had to acclimate to life without transients sleeping on the lawns, thieves on bikes and wonder if my car was going to get stolen. When you live in Redding you become blind to all these things as it is the norm. Glad to be gone from Redding.

| Redding, California- good place to learn. - 2/18/2019
I went to high school, in Redding. The summer heat, was the major problem. Homelessness was a problem, but not a big one, There weren't so many fires, or a lot of smoke. It was a safe town, and there were just 2 lakes, for fishing.
But I lived there, 3 times. The last time, fire, and smoke increased. The summer heat was still a problem. And homelessness increased, but not too bad, compared to other cities. But violence had become more of a problem, certain times of year. Traffic got worse. Shasta County became more greedy. Redding isn't a bad place to live, but I wouldn't make it the very best. Good place to learn, to drive, though! Or just to learn. If it wasn't for the smoke and summer heat, I might still be living, in Redding.
