| Inexpensive but not worth living here. - 6/14/2023
I've lived here 13 years now and hoping to move!! Not the most exiting place to live if you enjoy being outdoors for activities like biking, hiking or even walking or visiting landmark's at all! You only have the Alamo, and personally not even worth anyone's travel out to this city. The city has a major problem with litter, you'll see trash everywhere on the roads. I've never seen street sweeper trucks cleaning any of the streets! The weather is either scorching hot in the months of June through mid August and beyond that month sometimes! In the winter month's extra chilly because of the lingering humidity! Humidity is what plagues this city! The only PRO that I've experienced form this state is cost of living, and this only pertains to groceries and gas. Utilities are at an average price, unless your using your A/C unit which will bring that utility price up. Entertainment prices are the same as any other major city. Property taxes are high because you pay into the school district where your home is located! It's a big military city and would be the only advantage of living here because of the free healthcare that retirees receive at Lackland AFB or Ft Sam Houston.

| Unexciting for single 20 somethings - 8/2/2022
I lived in San Antonio for about 7 months or so, and for a reason!
Like anywhere I think SA has its pros and cons, but ultimately being in my early 20s and single I believe there are better places to live in these circumstances (hint hint Austin, Seattle, etc.) However, I do think that the city could be a good place for a family to settle as there are a variety of family orientated things to do. I just found it to be boring and frequently had to FIND something to do, whereas something to do would find me wherever I was in Austin or Houston. Does that make sense?
PROS
-low cost of rent (lease, apartments etc.)
-variety of TEX MEX food (emphasize Tex-Mex, the closest to authentic Mexican food you'll find are whole on the walls, other than that you've got to be at the border towns to get a real feel of what Mexican food taste like. The whole taco/burrito mixup had me confused when I moved to central TX from El Paso area)
-generally friendly people from my experience
-day trip to the beach is easy
-I think the city is easy to navigate through with the inner and outer loops
-relatively easy to find work
CONS
-personally I dont care for the lack of shade and consistently brown grass (I suppose after a lot of travel out of state and going to Austin and east Texas you realize how dry SA is)
-lack of shade in a lot of the walking trails
-lots of litter and trash throughout the city!
-not the most physically active city when it comes to doing outdoors things (is kayaking even a thing here?!)
-unbearably hot during the summer
-can get quite boring to me real quick (art events and free music events are more frequent in other Texas cities)
-Constant road construction that goes beyond delayed
-downtown and a lot of the parts of the city could definitely use some aesthetic touch up
Overall I personally wouldn't move back to the city. Cool things to do here and there but not for me in the long run.

| Living in San Antonio - 1/29/2022
Overall, San Antonio is a nice place to live. The weather is generally pleasant but from mid June to about mid September, it does get scorching hot. I remember one August, for two straight weeks, the high was over 100 every day. Although the humidity is not as bad as the east coast, the heat is brutal. The rest of the year is fine for the most part. The people are typically very friendly. The population is about 60-65 Mexican and there is no shortage of good aithentic Mexican food . I enjoyed the exposure to Latino culture. Now for the downside. It's very car dependent for such a large city unless you live right in downtown. Most places outside of downtown are not convenient to a bus route. Parking downtown is difficult but unless you are within five miles, the bus will take forever. The service is limited and the busses tend to run late. Another downside, it can get very boring. San Antonio seems like an exciting but it really isn't when you live there. I admit sometimes a moonlit stroll on the Riverwalk is always nice but other than that, there is no much else that doesn't get old. Fiesta is pretty fun but that only comes once a year. Yes I would recommend living in San Antonio to see how you like it. Many people love it there and it definitely has its good points.

| The most underrated big city in Texas - 12/13/2021
I lived here for 2 years out of college. In my opinion San Antonio is the most underrated big city in Texas, possibly the country. For a big city the traffic is not bad, especially compared to Dallas, Houston, and definitely Austin. The cost of a house is very reasonable with you being able to get a pretty good home for 250k. There is a great downtown, cultural, food, and outdoor scene. Close to many state parks, close to rivers for tubing in the summer, not to far from Austin for access to all the Austin amenities. I feel as a young professional people often forget about this city even though it has much to offer.
My one warning is that there are definitely parts of the city that are not very safe (south and east) so I would avoid living there.

| New to SA! Love it! - 5/10/2021
I moved to SA from Hawaii, I love the blend of liberals and conservatives, This attracts diversity and makes a better inclusive workforce. Cost of living is reasonable and as someone who enjoys the outdoors I am plenty to do here. Traffic can be pretty bad pre-Covid, Much better than the H1 Olin Oahu.
I’ve come across some conservative bigots mostly due to a lack of knowledge and their education , just ignore them!

| San Antonio - An Objective Big Picture View - 3/8/2020
Background: I grew up in Colorado, lived on the West coast (San Diego area 15 years), and the East Coast (Va Beach area 15 years), also Washington D.C. and overseas. As a whole SA has become overwhelmed - the urban sprawl & traffic is out of control and the infrastructure never kept up.
Pros:
1) the most economical location you can live in the US...quart of milk, gallon of gas, housing...everything is cheaper except two items = auto insurance & property taxes
2) a very military friendly city
3) "tax friendly" for retirees
4) very little regulations and oversight...such as building restrictions, HOAs,
5) do not have to every worry about snow or ice
Cons:
1) the biggest downside is amount of people and the projected growth = just overwhelmed, currently the 7th most populous city in the US with population expected to double in the next 20 years...uugggg. The urban spread is some of the worse of anywhere I have lived or traveled.
2) the weather... grey/overcast in the winter...but not really winter...stays warm year round..skies are grey and grass is brown; 8 months a year brutal humidity 80% +...just unbearable in such you can not sit outside or drive with your car windows down = no outdoor activities here; we run our A/C year round. You would sense that with the high temps and high humidity it would be more tropical but just the opposite = rocks and cactus...very weird. We lived in the high desert (Calf) and the temps in Aug would be 110+ for 2-3 weeks but at night it would cool down to the high 60s, just the opposite in SA = 100-110 degrees in August but never really cools off, the temp when I depart for work at 0500 = 94 degrees combine too with 80 percent humidity. The high temps combined with the brutal humidity makes it unbearable.
3) The drivers - the worse drivers in the world...my auto insurance jumped 20% when I moved to SA. My insurance agent indicated "welcome to S Texas - the land of where people do not know how to drive." I have driven in Naples Italy, Tokyo Japan, the Middle East and had daily commutes in Wash D.C., LA, San Diego - the drivers in SA are the bottom of the barrel...then combined with the small roads and overwhelming population growth = the worse place to drive or commute in the US. If you do relocate to SA - would strongly recommend living within a 2 mile radius of where u will work. I go to work early in the Am 0500 - it takes me 34 minutes door to door, in the evening at 430 pm the same drive takes one hour & 45 minutes - and it is a "white knuckle" drive the entire way - just the worse drivers anywhere...daily auto/truck accidents & weekly fatalities on the roads.
4) Some of the highest property taxes in the US
5) Public education system (Jr & HS public education) ranked 46th out of 52 states, hence lots of private school systems in SA = adds an additionally cost burden for families with children
6) For such a large city - most things close at 900 pm during the week and 1100pm on weekends...
7) agree with the other post that the reverse discrimination does exist...city is 85% Hispanic and it is apparent
8) getting anywhere else is problematic...traveling to any other destination the distances are so great when traveling by auto - traveling outside of the state plan for all day drive just to reach the state line (8+ hrs); the SA airport downtown is like a little county commuter airport - but seems like not many people travel much from SA anyway.
9) seems like SA is 10 -15 years behind the rest of the country...cell phone/driving laws, internet service, smoking, education, growth control, infrastructure & roads, open rock quarries right next to elementary schools...
10) Not a foodie/restaurant destination...more the land of DQs, Puffy Tacos, and Sonics with one of each on every corner.
We moved here six years ago to look at retirement options ...have come to the realization that for our preferences the cons far outweigh the benefits...we will be relocating in the next 2 years; even if the cost of living is higher elsewhere, the downsides of SA makes "daily living" not enjoyable.

| It's a Like/Dislike Thing. - 2/26/2020
I'm originally from the upper midwest where we have all four seasons. This city has a lot of pros and cons.
CONS:
1. It's very big and it takes a long time to get anywhere because there are so many people. Don't go out on the weekends which apparently everyone does.
2. There is always road construction. And it takes them a long time to finish a project.
3. YOu have two seasons. wet and hot and dry.
4. Don't expect to fun into a retail place and be out in 5 minutes. Retail locations are constantly busy. Especially on the weekends. While most retail places across America might be suffering I highly doubt it is here.
5. Most developers welcome chain retailers than mom and pop or small retailers.
6. PEOPLE ARE TERRIBLE DRIVERS. I've had three windshield replaced from flying debris. 3 accidents from other drivers making poor decisions. Nobody obeys the No Phone Law.
PROS:
1. Affordable housing. YOu can buy a modest home for a reasonable price. Taxes are high but it's offset by the fact that you don't pay state or local taxes on your income. But you'll be able to reach out your window and knock on your neighbors. Housing is still climbing.
2. Most neighborhoods are friendly. The one we live in of course has it's rude neighbors but overall the people are nice and wave to each other.
3. It's true in part about how they view outsiders but overall we have felt welcome.
4. The food options are great. I really like HEB and what it offers. I eat more healthy because of vegetable and fruits aren't prices so high compared to where I moved from.
5. My health has been much better since moving here compared to up north.

| Pros and Cons, not as bad as the reviews suggest - 10/31/2019
Lots of pure bundles of ranting joy here...
For anyone looking for an actual review and considering moving, here are some Pros and cons:
Pros:
-affordable housing, though this is changing due to demand. Clear sign of how many people choose to move here and stay
-one of the few American cities with a distinctive culture and character you cant get anywhere else. This is where Tex meets the Mex and becomes its own thing. The city also boasts the only UNESCO world heritage site in Texas: the San Antonio Missions.
-great food, and not just Mexican and BBQ
-plenty to do: several theme parks including one dedicated to kids with special needs, Sixflags, Sea World, and Schlitterbahn, a variety of places to hike and bike, and lots of history to get to know if youre a history buff
-if you want to take a day trip or a quick weekend getaway, you have the advantage of being within a 2 hour drive to other places with lots to do. You can easily drive to the coast, Austin, and the Hill Country (which is right outside the city and quite pretty in the spring when the flowers are in bloom).
-low violent crime rate for a city this big
-ive rarely ever encountered rudeness in customer service, just dont radiate elitism and you should be fine. Nobody likes a snob
-if youre into sports, the city goes crazy for the Spurs
-parts of the city are quite nice actually. Because it has grown so much in the past few decades, large portions of town feel a lot newer than some other cities (downtown being a major exception).
- seasonal stuff: riverwalk at Christmas is definitely worth checking out. In April, downtown basically turns into a giant party for a week for Fiesta, and in February there's a large rodeo that's kinda cool. You can also go to a nearby lake or tubing in the Comal during the summer to beat the heat
Cons:
-too hot. Droughts are common and they kill the grass (kinda depressing). . If you garden, plant native. Flash flooding is also something to mindful about when driving
-developers keep cutting down oak trees and replacing them with over-priced, cookie-cutter cardboard boxes. The city should really encourage developers to built up instead of out, downtown could use some more high-rises
-this city feels "stuck," for the lack of a better word. Ambition generally pretty low
-one of the highest property crime rates in the US (better than murder no? Ya can't have it all)
-Striking income inequality. Note that the further you go into loop 410 towards downtown, the less diversity you'll encounter, and you'll be in zipcodes with higher poverty rates (which are pretty high).
-not reliant on downtown to be the economic heart of the city. Most, if not all, the few fortune 500 companies are located outside loop 410, leaving for a somewhat unimpressive downtown. This is gradually changing for the better
-traffic gets worse by the day, and the crazy complicated highway system does not help. Beware of overpasses- lots of confusing exits messily going on top and underneath each other (Impressive, to witness, not to drive).
-awful public transport. You NEED to have car to get around the sprawl. If you prefer to bus, there are park-n-rides around, but you need a way to get to them
TL;DR -Articles often rank SA as one of the best cities to live in the US and there are some clear reasons why. However, for people looking for a cozy suburban lifestyle or a glitzy cosmopolitan one, it might not be the best fit.

| It's ok. And that's about it - 7/18/2019
Lived here fro 11 years. It's ok. The crime rate is ridiculously low for such a large metro area (You need to research NCIC stats and not rely on pissed off people posting their own thoughts). Tough to get a very good job if you're from out of state. Nepotism rules the day for the big jobs BUT you "can" land a decent job and with a low cost of living and low-priced hosing, you can make it pretty well around here with a ho-hum job. The biggest problem I have encountered (and this is MY opinion. not necessarily a fact) is all of the Mexican nationals who muck up the system during certain times of the year. No, this isn't a racists comment but it IS a socioeconomic comment. Those people roll into the city and into the area and honestly think that they can treat US citizens like the hired help and that's with YOU standing the in same line as THEM. So just be ready for a completely unwarranted "superior" attitude from those people. Other than that, we have about 3 1/2 seasons; kinda-spring, summer, kinda fall and a couple of weeks of mid-continent like "winter". Did I mention summer? Pretty much from April to September. Like I said, its "ok".

| The city needs to fix this problem - 6/24/2019
It's a nice place, but seriously I can't even eat my food without homeless coming up to me 2ithout asking for money, and I can't even walk around without seeing people shooting up heroin, or smoking weed. This is why I am giving it two stars my experience was ruined by this experience

| San Antonio....Fat, Stupid People. Not Good - 3/30/2019
I read a review on here that reminded me of my situation and experience with San Antonio. It makes you realize that its really not just you that it’s the people and the city. So I will expand on what they said.
I used to live in San Antonio around 9 years ago and moved out of there due to lack of career options here. It seems like people in San Antonio think USAA or working at HEB for 30 years is a career. I moved to another state and I was able to quickly advance in a corporate setting.
In San Antonio you cannot advance unless you were born and raised there. You will ALWAYS be looked at as an outsider. People are closed minded and fearful of anyone educated beyond high school.
I moved back there for 7 months. I came back due to the fact housing costs were ok and thought it might be a good idea to buy a home and live there and maybe start a business . WRONG!
People in San Antonio have become even more ghetto than before. (The politicians actually spread the ghetto all over town via section 8 and mixed income living that they dispersed creating heavy crime on sides of town that were previously safe….how’s that “income equality working for ya now)?
• Rude people everywhere
• Most people are poor and on welfare (Its fact I saw it all the time, so don’t say otherwise)
• No common sense and confrontational people everywhere.
• San Antonio I famous for wrong way and drunk driving. You are very likely to be in hit and run or hit by a drunk driver in San Antonio.
• Crime has spiked, we are talking senseless murders over nothing, drug use like meth and heroin taking the city over, store robberies, home invasions and serious crimes like that.
• Losers with no jobs committing crimes all day. EVERY SINGLE DAY in news you can read about a high speed chase, killing, stabbing, drug crime and similar.
• Almost everyone has a DUI and arrest record along with tattoos.
• Flaky people, they don’t keep appointments and expect you to go around their drinking, eating schedules.
• A lot of single mothers and deadbeat fathers who live a welfare lifestyle and hate on anyone who has a career and will try to start trouble for no reason other than they are jealous.
• There is nothing to do in San Antonio unless you like to get drunk every day or eat all day and get fat and go shopping all day like a moron at the endless amount of cookie cutter shopping centers
Long story short I left that doomed city and asked for my job back (Thankfully I was able to get it and moved back) We cut our losses and now we are very happy where we live now and are glad to pay higher bills just so we don’t have to look at those ghetto criminal trash that majority of San Antonio citizens are.
If you are a good person, have a family and want your kids to grow up to be somebody and not grow up to be a hood rat loser on welfare with 6 kids, or if you appreciate people who are polite and kind then DO NOT move to San Antonio.
If you currently live in San Antonio and are a decent person and have values then get out of there before you waste your years trying to be successful in a city of failures who will resent you for your positive traits. If you stay there too long you will become just as fat and stupid as they are. Most people that move there and don’t leave end up fat within 6 months due to nothing to do there but eat, drink and be an a-hole.

| This Review is NOT Sugar Coated. Just Truth - 3/17/2019
San Antonio is not a city for professionals. Nepotism is the way this town is run. You have generation after generation of people here who NEVER left San Antonio and they have closed minds so they dont like people from out of town (Especially from out of state). Workplaces here are full of gossip and no one can stop it because everyone knows each other so they dont want to discipline their "friends". I have seen group bullying one person, making up lies about them and all agreeing to go along woth the lie just to get someone fired for no reason. (Seriously, thats how mentally screwed up San Antonio people are)
If you are university educated and good at your career it doesnt matter, there will always be at least 1 person at your workplace who has lived in San Antonio their whole life and got their job through their friend, uncle, cousin, mom, dad, brother, grandpa, etc. These people are bitter and ready to try and make an example of you if you arent from there so you will never advance no matter what as long as that angry closed minded gatekeeper is there.
People in San Antonio have issues with you if you are smarter, better looking , or otherwise successful or not a rotten person and will use excuses to try and make your life miserable or gossip continously about you to try and make you look bad to others.
The reason the customer service is so poor here is because people in San Antonio are majority on welfare of some kind so they dont see working as a necessary, but just as something to pass time between the weekend and bar hopping and somewhere to socialize with their friends. (They leave their kids with their mom while they go spread their legs more)
Its not uncommon to see a grandma out with their daughter and the daughter of the daughter and for her to have a kid. Literally 4 generations of losers in 1 place, usually out at stores browsing since they have no jobs and its multiple generations of peopel on welfare. (proof they never leave.)
People here live off their parents forever and their parents coddle them so they never have been disciplined in their entire life. They carry this into orkplaces and treat people like garbage and then dont expect consequences (Since they never have had any). That is why they hate people from other places because we dont put up with that junk.
I ended up moving 3 months ago after finding a job in another state that pays more and is in a waaay nicer state and city. Glad San Antonio and their idiot people are in the past now. San Antonio ....enjoy your idiot ways, keeping having 10 kids and living off your parents and being on welfare.

| San Antonio Is Growing For a Reason! - 2/17/2019
I have lived in San Antonio for almost 15 years. I'm in the very fast growing northeast side of town. My experience here has been overwhelmingly positive. People here are genuinely nice, helpful, and polite. There is a sincere pride in living here, in Texas, and in the United States. Is crime a problem? No more so than in other large cities. Our middle class neighborhood has been targeted for theft repeatedly over the years, that is true and unfortunate. But we have a great community that watches out for each other.
The heat can be unbearable. When it's still in the mid-to-upper 90's in October, it can wear you down. But I still prefer to be too hot than too cold!
I think many of the other reviews were written by people with a specific grudge. Talk to other people in your demographic to get a real feel for it here.

| San Antonio (Truth no one wants to say) - 1/20/2019
Sperlings is censoring reviews about the high crime and increase in violent crime in San Antonio.
When you look at teh crime rates they coincide with the influx of lowlives from New Orleans that were let into the city after they cried in Louisiana about hurricane in 2016. The naieve city of San Antonio let the criminals in from one of the most murderous city in the country (New Orleans).
Not only that the violent crime and shootings used to mostly be relegated to teh West Side or East Side. Now they are EVERYWHERE. Just in the first week of this year there were dozens of violent crimes. We are talking drive by, armed robbery, murder, just insane criminality.
With the New Orleans junkies came the increase in drug use as well, we are talking heavy drug like meth. Not to mention bums are now started to be numerous. This place is turning to Austin (a city 1 hour from here that is a liberal dump filled with drug addicted garbage and junkies and overpriced apartments and homes)
One thing you will notice is that almost everyone has tattoos in this city. Nowhere elese that I have lived have I seen so many losers with tats all over and thinking its cool. (I guess its ok if you plan on working Min wage the rest of your life).
DO NOT move to San Antonio if you are career minded, family oriented or educated. You will be the odd one out. You will be living in a sea of failures who will resent you because you have more.
Trust me when I say that you will be wasting your life in San Antonio and you will have almost no quality of life unless you consider drinking everyday and eating until you become obese a fun thing to do. I moved away just recently and the difference in my quality of life is amazing. No more tatted up losers everywhere I look, achievements are not frowned upon and no more brain dead behavior.

| What No One Will Tell You About San Antonio - 1/15/2019
The news will say otherwise and claim this city is safe, this may have been true years ago, but it is no longer the case. So Bottom line is IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT MOVING HERE….THINK AGAIN THIS CITY IS INFECTED WITH CRIME. Plus you have DRUG ADDICT CITY (Austin) 1 hour away. There are better cities where people don’t act like animals. San Antonio is full of the trash.
This city has gone down the toilet and fast. Mostly thanks to the drug using piles of trash who think using or selling drugs is cool. Weak or absent father figures are a contributor as well. It’s not a coincidence that the influx of Louisiana criminals when Hurricane Harvey had them shipped over here and they mostly ALL stayed because the easy pickings that they saw in the city. With then came the more brazen drug-fueled crimes that you see now.
I can tell you that there is a new breed of brazen criminality gripping the city. These kinds of criminals are brazen. Take for instance recently when someone shot at NorthStar Mall (Traditionally one of the better malls in the city (not anymore)
Or the guy who killed his 8 month old kid who had his mother and family try to cover for him.
That’s one thing about San Antonio it’s such a small minded city that it seems like everyone grew up here and no matter what has a cousin, uncle, brother, sister or someone they can run to when they get in trouble. And there lies the problem. These people don’t have to grow up. They are living at home with parents well into their 30’s and have no job or any desire to get one since they live off welfare system after popping out several kids. So if you are a normal human you will not fit in in San Antonio
I would say that San Antonio is like Mexico (mentality-wise) the only difference is you have running water, electricity, large grocery stores with air condition and malls and a welfare system that allows the lazy people to have free medical, food and housing. (In Mexico you don’t have that, that’s why they are so eager to get over here. It’s not to work for a better life, it’s to have a better life on the backs of working people)
Then you have a strange situation where some people apologized to someone before they shot them.
Then there is a shooting that happened at a night club Essensce just today earlier in morning.
Or a mother of 2 kills her 2 kids and then herself just today
Or an 82 year old woman struck by stray bullet during a shootout
Or A Man driving himself to hospital after getting shot in the face
All of the above happened within the span of a couple days. This is not including the countless drunk driving/wrong way driving accidents on Loop 410 and I-10 that rarely even get reported because they are so common the news doesn’t even care anymore.
If I were to get into the rest of the crap that goes on in this city it would fill up the whole website. If you are thinking of moving here, trust me when I tell you to think again. Its not a good city for family or people who are career oriented or just decent people. Its become a breeding ground for criminals.

| Wasn't born here, but glad I moved here. - 12/26/2018
Coming from beautiful San Diego to San Antonio was an adjustment, hated it at first but soon fell in love with Texas in just a few months. It's not as pretty, sure, but it has its own charm. SA is more like a slower paced huge town than a city this size should be - still has a nice old-fashioned feel to it. It is getting crowded here so expect some traffic (nothing like San Diego or LA traffic though). There's plenty to do. I learned to fish here and tube down a river, saw fireflies and deer for the first time, and within a 15 minute drive outside the city limits you'll see endless stars. Not a lot of night life (a handful of hot spots) but the food is good almost anywhere. There's lots of attractions (SeaWorld, Six Flags, Riverwalk, Natural Bridge Cavern), some nice museums, the beach is about 2 1/2 hours away, two large lakes nearby for summer fun, festivals all year round, a few awesome concerts, a huge fair and rodeo every February, and Austin is just over an hour drive away. SA is diverse and mostly friendly, not very exciting but not too boring either; it can be a nice place to raise a family and live a simpler life with less stress. I've also lived in a small town of like 20,000 people (that was REALLY boring!). I've lived in Oklahoma, Florida, even Hawaii. Every place has it's good and bad, depending on how you look at things. It can get a little pricey in some spots, even apartments, but there's plenty of affordable areas if you look.

| San Antonio Full of Jealous and Lazy People - 12/21/2018
I lived here about 8 years ago and I can tell you this place was never good, but I had to return due to orking in medical field and getting pay upgrade with a hospital here after my residency elsewhere (What a mistake).
People here are generally lazy and I am Hispanic and since I have drive other Hispanics/Mexicans will try and bring you down if you are successful, usually by attempting to make fun of your success , excluding you, or trying to diminish achievments. (What we call "envidia") and there is a lot of it in this city.
Another thing I noticed after coming back here is the influx of negritos. I used to never see them , but now they hooked up with all the low class mexican women and have the mexican women pay all the bills and pay for an apartment so they are moving into sides of town they dont fit in because they have the ignorant mexican woman or a white woman paying for everything (dont tell me otherwise, Ive seen it too many times with my own eyes, restaurants, grocery stores, leasing agents in apartments have told me).
This city has taken a turn for the worse. Whats sad about the whole thing is while my fellow Hispanics/Mexicans are busy directing their jealousy towards me (a fellow Hispanic) all the negritos mocosos are taking their women. (In my opinion if the women are low enough to go itha negrito then that says a lot about their low worth.
A lot of this has to do with brainwash, just look at the ads in San Antonio magazine publications, always featuring a negrito with a white or hispanic woman and they make the negrito out to be successful, when in reality they are moochers (where is the representation for the succesful Hispanic male in advertising)
The thing is Hispanics spend too much time tearing each other down and not enough energy supporting each other. This is why the negrito has been able to weasel their way into San Antonio which is historically a Latino majority town. Didnt help you foolish people elected the idiot Ivy Taylor who wasnt qaulified to flip burgers, but elected for politically correct reasons.
Sadly after all this came to light I ended up looking for and successfuly finding another hospital in another city to work in after I completed my residency. Looking back I now realize San Antonio is a doomed city and I am glad I left. Its really sad that my home town is no longer home, but a place taken over by trash. Well, good luck to anyone who is thinking of moving there.

| Beware - 8/15/2018
Overall the crime rate is pretty good. Of course you have to worry about white collar crime and harrassment the kind that can drain your bank account and result in premature death. I would not move to the city due to a crazed vigilante group. Beware.

| Good Review - 7/23/2018
I’ve read some of the older reviews of San Antonio and it is interesting to see all the different opinions. I have lived in Seattle, Atlanta, Naples, and Austin and they all have their pros and cons. I was able to find the beauty in all of these places. I think San Antonio is a gem as someone had written before. Someone criticized it’s laid back culture full of siestas and parties and I say YASSSS to this!! I was really tired of the rat race and San Antonio just offers a higher quality of life with less of that daily stress. Thank God a lot of San Antonio doesn’t care for or puts up with pretentiousness. A lot of great things are happening to the city and San Antonions will continue to celebrate a city full of soul. Yes, my soul is happier here because I live more authentically with less worry and more humility.

| Real talk. - 2/5/2018
I was born and raised in San Antonio. Here's my $0.02.
THE TL;DR -- If you can handle allergy season being (basically) year-round, don't mind humid, hot weather, have a specific skill-set/job (or don't mind capping your pay), are knowledgeable about property tax and Texas' tax system, and aren't looking for a liberal oasis --- San Antonio is probably a perfect or good fit for you. if any of those things stand out to you, you might want to do a lot more research, and really consider if the city is a good fit for you!
Jobs/COL: There are high paying jobs, but they're mostly segmented with specific employers or job fields. Example: My brother works for USAA, and gets paid VERY well for the typical COL of San Antonio. Lawyers and doctors will also get paid well. Outside of that, you'd need to find a specific company that you can build a career with, because San Antonio is lacking in any sort of job market. The tech jobs are in Austin, the blue collar and professional-level careers are in Dallas. San Antonio has jobs, obviously, but it's not going to be as "easy" find a good paying career you actually enjoy. Speaking from experience and years spent scouring the market for better opportunities.
Housing: PLEASE do not be fooled by the "no income tax" of Texas. Texas, and Bexar county in general, have EXTREMELY high property tax (some of the highest in the nation). Read: IT EVENS OUT. The no income tax is VERY EASILY swapped for the obscenely high property tax. You're looking at 2.6%+ in some areas, and obviously with the housing market, you can expect your house to appraise higher than you paid. Expect for property taxes to steadily increase each year, also.
Another note on housing. If you want to live in a "desirable" location, the starting price of most homes will be $250k+. Again, please consider property tax, as it's killer.
Allergies: It's going to be hit or miss for how bad they are for you. However, there is a LONG list of allergens that plague South Texas/San Antonio. Growing up there, I think I developed somewhat of an tolerance towards them, as I'd get through the ear with minimal eye-puffiness and flu-like symptoms. HOWEVER, my partner who is NOT native to South Texas, legit was MISERABLE year round. It didn't matter the season, his allergies were non-stop horrible. My advice: Look up specific allergens (cedar, pollen, etc.) and then get an allergy test done. This likely is NOT the place for you if you have extreme allergies to those.
Weather: It's hot and sticky in the summer. I loved the weather, but again, I grew up here. Winters are short. Fall basically doesn't exist (lol). When it rains, it POURS -- and roads will flood. Seriously, be wary -- a lot of SA is built on flood plains.
Politics: Inner-SA is considered liberal. The further from city-center you go, the more conservative it becomes. Texas is pretty conservative as a whole, though. Lots of "NObama" stickers. Lots of ignorant people (on both sides) who refuse to hear another point of view or have intelligent conversations. In my time here (my entire life), SA is filled with people who LOVE to lie and exaggerate. Daily I'd come in contact with a friend, acquaintance, or coworker who would spout nonsense about the news (or anything, really). Upon facing them with FACTS or the truth - you're met with MORE lies or exaggerations. I'm not just talking about politics either. It bleeds through into every day life. They don't want to hang out? Their mom has cancer. They missed your birthday party? It's because their dog ran away. You bought your coworker lunch and they still haven't paid you back? They'll begin ignoring you.
^^^ I want to clarify and say I'm sure there are flakes and bad friends everywhere. But I'm saying is I've now lived in three different States/cities, and ONLY in San Antonio did I encounter THIS level of sheer fake-ness. To summarize this point: If you like surface gestures and general politeness, with no REAL empathy or kindness/friendship behind it, then you'll love SA.
Social/culture: Another thing, is people in SA seem to be STAGNANT. Like... just STUCK. There seems to be no drive, no WANT to improve quality of life or knowledge. They drink EVERY NIGHT/weekend. Seriously, I grew up here. I know a LOT of people. I'm not kidding when I say 9/10 people here drink at EVERY single opportunity. Also, I love to drink, but it's next level in SA.
The other thing. They drink AND DRIVE. It's an epidemic. Every. Single. Person. My 36 year old coworker. My 45 year old coworker. My 23 year old college buddy. My 21 year old friend, barely legal. My parents. My cousin. EVERY SINGLE PERSON seems to have NO issue with drinking and then getting behind the wheel. Again, I've lived in Portland and Denver now, and I've NEVER seen this kind of blatant disregard for life or other's lives.
