Boulder City, A Gem of a town in Southern Nevada - 6/10/2021

I'm an Air Force Veteran, born in New Jersey who left home at 18 and have live in at least 20 US towns and communities over the past fifty years. I moved out of Silicon Valley, CA and purchased a place in Boulder city in 2018. To verify what I will be telling you here only requires that you visit us for a day or two. Ok, what do I love about this town? Let me start with the Department of Public Works, (DPW). Every time I see these guys out and about I am amazed at how well they take care of the infrastructure here!! Parks, roadways, public parks, gardens just immaculate and well maintained. Take a drive through town and you will know what I mean. Besides the beauty of the place, the small town feel and the friendliness of the population there are the following things, a hospital and local medical clinic, a major grocery store, entranceway to The Lake Mead Nation Recreation area, The Big Horn Sheep park, an historic railroad, amazing hiking trails, a world class dog park! Also world class recreation facilities, 2 golf courses, kids water park, and all the other parks you need, tennis baseball, football, BMX race course, volleyball! I will finish by saying that most of this is maintained by the Boulder City DPW!! One last thing, we have one of the best Post Offices in America, Five Star customer service, and great delivery services! So, yes, Boulder City Nevada is one of the true gems of a town in America! Note: Also no state Income tax, and low property taxes, great library, and senior Center!

Clean Green Boulder City, but Dirt Dog Park - 1/8/2014

Boulder City is all about Clean Green, but the only Dog Park in the city is all dirt. Henderson, NV and Las Vegas have multiple Grass dog parks. Boulder City has 3 golf courses, and at least 6 baseball diamonds, why won't the City fund grass in the dog park. In the summer, it is too hot for dogs to play on hot sand, so the dog park is worthless during daytime hours. Also the dogs get dirty faster in a dirt dog park.

Trucking - 1/22/2008

All heavy truck traffic has been routed off the Hoover Dam since the 9-11 attacks due to national "infrastructure" security concerns and this has had the effect of keeping semi-trucks from traveling through Boulder City. A bypass bridge for the dam at a cost of approx. a combined total of 750 Million dollars is currently under construction with completion by Jan. 2011 of the bridge portion of the project, with major bypass route to be possible. The bridge may or maynot allow heavy trucks to cross depending on security concerns to our national security at the time of opening. This bridge is to be named after two national war hero's one of which is Tillman. The opening of this bridge may increase traffic through Boulder City which they are currently planning on routing through their industrial district which is on the opposite side of U.S. 93 from the City's residential core.

BOULDER CITY, NEVADA - 1/22/2008

A charming quiet community nestled on the shores of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Founded during the construction of the Hoover Dam during the 1930's the area is home to many historical homes and buildings from that era, as well as million dollar lake view homes. Known as a non-gaming, low crime, bed-room community to the well known Las Vegas area the city has sought to protect is way of life by instituting low-growth policies while maintaning a progressive outlook for its retiree and family residents. While remaining one of the American Southwest's best kept secrets for living, the word on this little gem of a town is slowly getting around.
