Affordable place to raise children - 5/25/2006

I grew up and had my children in Simi Valley, CA. I moved to Clarksville 6 years ago because of the cost of housing in Simi. I was renting a 2 bdm 2 bath apt. for $1050.00 a month. I cant image what it would be today. I bought a house in Clarksville with a big yard and 3 bdm 2 baths and pay $800.00 per month. Simi is a great place to live and raise your children if you have a two parent family and you devote most of your time to your jobs and the freeways![more...]

Well we looked and looked for something that was comparable to where we are living now. And the actual cost of living will be more than us living in washington dc! The schools are not good in either place. but right now we are in a 2 bdrm with 1250 sq ft paying 1405 per month. At our soon to be residence. We found something that was suitable as far as conditions and had 1550 sq ft but it went for 850. I know the cost of living is adjusted when dealing with uncle sam but we will be paying 200.00 more per mont just on rent, not counting utilities. It was more than we expected to say the least considering it is not a bustling metropolis.[more...]
