Nice Place - 10/5/2021

I've lived here for 12 years. I agree with what others have written about the weather, location, cost of living, and charm. I also agree that crime has grown, and the local drivers are abysmal. They are usually young males who have been spoiled by their parents, but sometimes they're simply clueless about what's going on around them.

Very nice city. - 5/17/2014

Incorporated in 1906, Glendale California is a "Little" big city. 200,000 people in a 30 sq. mile area. Situated between the San Gabriel & San Fernando Valleys, so the weather is very nice. Very low crime. The police are "by the book" but they are as polite as you treat them. Lots of commerce. Lots of transportation. Plenty of movie theaters. The economy is good. The rent is a little less than Los Angeles. If we didn't want to leave California, we would stay in Glendale.

Glendale is a wonderful place to live in. It's green, clean, safe, and it's very pretty.According to statistics, Glendale was in the list of 10 safest cities with more than 100,000 population.

Why this web site interests me - 8/14/2009

I am an expat and Glendale was the last place I lived in the U.S. so I put it down as home. California is too expensive, government is out of control so I am really interested in learning of other areas.

Crime on the increase - 8/2/2008

I have lived here for over 50 years. This was a very quiet, peaceful little town. However, in the past 10 to 15 years, the crime rate has been increasing at an alarming rate. It is now so dangerous that my wife and I are looking for other places to move and so are many of our friends and neighbors. Property values have plummeted due to the crimes occurring now.

Glendale is so so.... - 6/3/2008

This city is very expensive. It's nice because it's pretty close to everything. The schools seem pretty good but this city has some of the rudest people I have ever met in my entire life! Very bad drivers as well so pedestrians beware!

Living in Glendale, CA - 3/18/2007

It's one of the safest city around the area compared to it's neighboring cities, Pasadena and downtown Los Angeles. Schools and Hospitals are accessible as well. Generally it's a good place to live... see for yourself!e

Good place to live - 3/16/2007

this is a great place to live but it is very expensive. to live comfortable and i understand that comfortable is relative...but a family of four needs to have and income of at least $130k to do everything. but that's just my opinion. the weather is gorgeous, low crime and everything is within my reach.

CONVENIENT LOCATION - 6/23/2006

Glendale, CA is a very convenient location. It is near downtown Los Angeles (20 minutes by car, 30 minutes by train, 40 minutes by bus). By car, Glendale residents can be skiing in the mountains in 90 minutes or swimming in the Pacific ocean in 35 minutes. Various museums (LACMA, Gene Autry Museum, Forest Lawn-Glendale, etc.), the L.A. Zoo and Griffith Park are all within a 30-minute drive from central Glendale. Glendale has its own community college, and shopping and dining choices are abundant. Large stores that are not in Glendale (yet) are in adjacent communities (Burbank, Los Feliz, Pasadena, etc.). Glendale has its own libraries, fire dept, police dept, and water/electric company. Within the past 5 years, Glendale was rated #1 among cities with more than 100,000 population, and the crime rate is still low.

Too expensive - 6/22/2006

Glendale is a nice community to live, schools are good and crime rate is low but rents are too expensive and homes prices are too high. Rent for a 1 bdr apt. goes for 900-1200 and a 2 bdrm place can be as high as 1400.

Glendale, CA - 2/8/2006

I lived in Glendale California from 1973 to 1986 and it has changed so much. Now it feels like being in a foreign country. Nothing wrong with feeling like you're in a foreign country if you are actually in one. I asked some people on the street if a particular restaurant moved somewhere else. They could not understand me. So I tried asking other people a block away. The same thing, they did not understand me. Attempted this a few more times. I just gave up. SCARY!!
