| Toxic Wasteland - 11/7/2021
If I could give this place negative five stars, I would. Most of the people here are a giant waste of time. They are liars, manipulators, psychopaths, and sociopaths. Steer clear from this motley crew. The place is very boring with little to do. You can expect mediocre food and sub-par everything. No one tries hard no one works hard either. It is the final frontier of western civilization. Downright disgusting, vile, and despicable. The dating scene is abysmal. All of the scenes, in general, are toxic and boring. I am so happy to have made a ton of money and left as soon as I did. I've been worldwide, and I can assure you these are the meanest, nastiest, and laziest people ever! I could not get away from this place fast enough. I do not recommend moving here. If the above doesn't bother you, then the endless homelessness, overpriced cost of living, and utter cluelessness of everyone around you will. The only thing good here is the concerts that take place. There are delusional people all over. They think they are high and mighty and feel they are the moral authority on everything. The huge populace of hypocrites makes this a cesspool of demons.

| Worth the hustle to live there - 10/3/2021
Even with the high costs of living and the sooty air, I feel there is no other place in USA that has access to oceans and beaches, cultural and recreational opportunities and most importantly, a great climate that is not too cold and not too sticky warm.

| Pros & Cons listed - 9/28/2021
Ahhh where to begin? Long summary so bare with me. Born and raised in this ****hole, after 25 years finally getting close to be able to move state as I dreamed, as I've been to Oklahoma, Nevada, and New York I have some experience with the outside world. Now off the bat I'ma tell you it depends on YOU as an INDIVIDUAL why you would move here or not. So I'm not gonna tell you you should move here or not cus it just depends on you and your lifestyle, but I will tell you the bad and the good. So first off the bad, if you're pro gun, pro American, anti tax, pro freedom this IS NOT the place for you. It's very political, very messy, very strict, and very EXPENSIVE, also very polluted so if you have bad lungs/allergies this isn't it. If you never lived in a big metropolitan city you don't know what traffic or bad driving means, rabid squirrels who somehow got their driver's licenses while on coke reign on these streets and they do NOT CARE about you. Last bad thing off the top of my head is a bad/good thing depending on you, WEATHER. The only word to describe it is "bipolar" like the people (I'm bipolar so I don't mean it disrespectfully just a joke). You can't predict it you can't schedule for it, it does what it wants when it wants. Only thing is we don't really get seasons, it's either sun or clouds, hot and/or rain. In some spots we get the leaves to change colors but that's about it. Now THE GOOD, or so I believe, of course these are my opinions but I try to say things most ppl who wanna come here would like, or unique stuff. Convenience, if you never been in a metropolitan city you don't know convenience, every corner there's a store for basically anything you need, sometimes the same type of stores on one block. Food is EVERYWHERE you can try from all over the world. There's also tonnssss of events, so basically if you're an extrovert/very social person, it would be a dream for you. Also of course entertainment is the moto, if you wanna get into showbiz, or just love entertainment in general this is candy land. One last thing, racism is everywhere in the world so don't think it's any better here, you could be white/Asian/black/Hispanic (which mind you we have A LOT of since we're very diverse) but for some reason you still get in the wrong neighborhood that doesn't pertain to your color and you will be profiled, by people or cops, so just try to stay in more mixed areas if that scares you(which for some new folk they mistakingly don't get scared, doesn't mean **** isn't happening to them). Also I call it a police state although not literal, the cops in Los Angeles county are some of the most corrupt and non chalant, though not all, most. So yea! Basically if non of that bothers you then you're in for a treat, or if you just like being indoors but for whatever reason you wanna be in Cali, that works too. I can't list everything as we'd be here for hours, but hopefully I helped some! For me personally if I could I'd rate this place 0 stars and return the city to hell where it belongs. Thanks

| Putrifaction City - 9/7/2021
$883K average home price? To live among people who will spray small arms fire at you from their car at random...just for the thrill?
Los Angeles? Angeles means "Angels" in Spanish. If the place wasn't so sad, it would be funny.
But alas, it's a great place for liberals to visit and stay.

| Great culture, weather, and food, at big costs. - 4/4/2021
Pros: Great culture, food, museums, theater, art, weather, and lots of different ethnic areas if you're willing to drive/sit in traffic to get there.
Cons: Insanely bad traffic, bad smog, comically high cost of living, dirty in many places, people who aren't as warm/friendly/down-to-earth as many other places (generally speaking -- obviously there are exceptions or we never lasted as long as we have), a giant city-wide homeless problem, and, in my opinion, pretty ugly overall.
I've been here for 24 years (came here straight out of college) and now my wife and I are doing our best to get out, as are most of our friends (many of whom already have left). The costs of the good parts are too high to make it a city I'd recommend anyone live long-term, unless you happen to like or fit in with the downsides I've mentioned. So many people describe it as soul-sucking and shallow, and it can absolutely feel that way.

| An amusement park to visit, not a home. - 3/6/2021
I’ve lived in the County for 7 years. Long Beach 3.5 years and Sherman Oaks 3.5 years. Now I’m ready to go! (1) Covid sadly seemed to make homelessness and crime explode.(2) I make 75k at a well respected architectural firm designing homes and businesses for celebrities but I can’t even afford a house let alone decent apartment. Something is wrong with that picture. (3)There are too many people. (4)Traffic is horrible, I was hit by an illegal on my motorcycle who had no insurance or a penny to his name and the cops let him drive away in his unregistered car while I was taken away in an ambulance...unfair much? On top of that, it can take 2 hour to go 10 miles in the city......... I had a great time here in my 20s but the city feels more like an amusement park you visit rather than a place to settle down in. You can only live comfortably if you earn well into the 6 figure column. I’m not sure how there will be any skilled middle class people left in CA if it remains this hard to live here. Me and my husband are looking to move ASAP and slow things down possibly in Arizona where middle class people can actually buy a home. The heat doesn’t scare us and we can’t imagine crime any worse than here. Good luck!

| Yeah.... no- - 3/3/2021
I've lived here for about 8 or 9, maybe 10 years and I want to move out badly ;)
Pros:
Great beaches, and amusement parks. And beautiful sights. Decent weather.
Cons:
Riots. Fires. Very hot in the summer. No snow. Lots of homeless people, under almost every freeway. No indoor dining due to the covid. The covid cases are very high in L.A. Cost of living is h i g h. Overpopulated. :') Really bad air quality.
Overall:
I don't recommend living here tbh, it's very bad. It gets worse and worse. It was okay and better from when I first moved.

| It's the city of Angeles, but read on. - 1/26/2021
L.A is a great place to live if you live for diverse food, nightlife, concerts, celebrities, shows, branded shops, and lots of "friends" who love the same things as you do. if you want to facebook about great restaurants, awesome concerts, which celebrities are doing what next door, you will be so happy . You will have endless things to facebook about 24/7, and if you don't, you will soon be forgotten.
People are super nice, depends on your definition of nice.
But if you want a place where you can nurture your soul (good friends, good conversations, honesty and kind hearts ), you will feel like a fish in a desert.
I have travelled (backpacked) 20 countries solo, I have never been to a place where I didn't like the people, I even liked Indians (women only), LA is the 1st place I find myself lonely. I have no problem meeting new people, I can start a conversation with just about anyone. I have got some compliments saying that I'm a great conversationalist, yet I find myself lonely. I've lost any interests in engaging in conversations with people. They are dull, superficial, attention seeking, overly exaggerating pretty much about anything. Everything they do is "super fun", every restaurant is "super good", every person they have met is "super nice". Every place they have been is just so "great!". They are all about adjectives, but there is no place for your soul to rest, or for my soul to rest.
If you like city life, leave your heart and soul at home, and come to this city, and have fun.

| This place is a pit! - 8/3/2020
I can't wait to get out of this place. The exodus out of California in general and Los Angeles in particular has been in motion for a little while now, and I'm going to be on that train soon and I can't wait! It's crazy here - insanely expensive (try 9% sales tax on everything but food to start with!), so crowded, lots of people with bad attitudes (even when you try to be nice to them!) and so dirty! Yeah, the weather is great, but that doesn't make up for all the other stuff you have to put up with. Oh, and ....... buying property?? Hahahah! Forget that if you make anything less than $100,000 a year!

| I love LA - 2/28/2020
My favorite city in the U.S. Fantastic cultural amenities. Fantastic food from around the world. Great shopping. Lots of interesting architecture and history. The best weather in the world. Endless Pacific Ocean at your feet. Great music city. Year around beautiful flowers and gardens. Multi-cultural. The absolute best city for year around outdoor activities. Fantastic hiking areas. I honestly can not imagine living anywhere else.

LA has the worst of all worlds. Few bright spots- very few. Every good human being moved out or will move out soon. No one should think of moving here to live for long.

| Not a place to raise a family - 11/26/2019
Not a place to raise a family. Drugs, theft, violence, etc. The police here are not like depicted on TV and movies, though. My experience with the LAPD has ALWAYS been positive. The officers I've had to deal with here were always professional, courteous, honest and empathetic.

| City for young people? Maybe with daddies money - 8/23/2019
LA is a place where you go after you’ve established some sort of solid foundation whether it be obtaining a useful degree or moving jobs. As someone who moved there at 20, I found it very difficult to make a lot of money( I work in marketing not “acting” or modeling). People move to LA with the hopes of being discovered yet fail to realize that most celebrities that live there were discovered elsewhere and settled in LA. Rent is absurd, groceries are expensive, and the gas is through the roof.. especially having to constantly fill up from the stop and go of the 405/101.
It is BEAUTIFUL if you can find the right spots that are not filled with tourists. The forest, Malibu, Santa Monica mountains... it truly is s gorgeous place to live if you can afford it and avoid 85% of the people that now live there.

| Great for young adults, terrible for families - 7/15/2019
LA is a great city for young people, but definitely not a great place to raise a family. In my area (Larchmont Village), a 2-bedroom apartment without basic appliances like a washer and dryer and a dishwasher, will cost you around $3,000 per month. You gotta do fluff n fold or head to the laundromat. Buying a house is out of the question. Even the ugliest, most run-down houses get purchased for over a million dollars. If I had a million dollars in my pocket I still wouldn't buy one.
Traffic here is a nightmare and the Metro transit system is somewhat helpful, but it smells like pee and there are countless homeless people in the subway stations. The homelessness around the entire city is really bad, but definitely worse in some areas compared to others. Lots of tents on the streets. The entire city is covered in graffiti and our gutters are littered with piles of trash. Definitely a filthy place to live (because of the number of people we have crammed into this city).
The public school system is definitely not top-notch, but it is OK for what it is. The kids get fed junk food for lunch everyday though. For a place that is all about juicing, avocados and kale, you'd think our kids would be fed better than pizza, burgers, fries and sugary juice everyday.
The only positives is that LA has a lot to do if you enjoy being indoors. Lots of shows to see, lots of movie theaters, lots of bars, lots of clubs, etc. The quality of life here, though, is very low. My husband and I enjoyed being born and raised here and had lots of fun in our 20s exploring the city together. Now that we have kids and we are starting our 30s, we feel like it's time to move away and find somewhere nice to settle down. Not a family-friendly city by any means. But if you're young and single and looking for the bright-lights, busy-city, lots-going-on type of big city, LA is great.
