| Terrible place to live - 6/13/2009
I can NOT believe the water quality here is 47! Everyone we've spoken with in regards to the water all have the same opinions: "don't give it to your dog; disconnect your ice maker, and buy bagged ice and bottled water; it stinks, and you'll find floating particles on some days". These are all things we were told upon inquiring about the smell of rotten eggs running from our faucet when moving here. As expensive as the water is you'd think it's gold. When my sister came to visit, she told me our water smells like the undrinkable water she encountered during a mission trip to Equador! My nephew has thrown up several times after drinking the water. It is way too bad on some days to result in a 47.... This water needs to be retested![more...]

| Decent place to live - 4/18/2009
Lumberton is a small town, nearly a bedroom community for Beaumont-Port Arthur. The school district is good, and fiscially conservative. Stores are adequate but Beaumont provides the shopping and larger retail opportunities. It is a dry town, but not that high dollar a town. Like a number of towns in TX growth has been helter-skelter, driven by the developers. Growth in recent years has been high as people have moved out from Beaumont. This is the southern end of the Piney woods of east TX and the beginning of the rolling hills. Although the elevation is only 30-50 feet, it is much higher than the area between here and the coast so flooding is usually less of an issue.[more...]
