New Jersey - 2/14/2011

New Jersey is a great place to live and raise kids. The state has everything to offer such as urban, suburban, and rural lifestyles. Location is ideal in that you have the ocean to the east, mountains to the west. The northern part of the state tends to be a little colder and has great places for winter sports. Within an easy drive you have access to New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C. In the state, itself, there are many cultural, arts, and recreational activities. The school systems are very good. When it comes down to it...I have been trying to leave the state for years always thinking the grass is greener someplace else. Every time I look, I just can't find another place that has so much to offer. So happiness truly can be found in your own pack yard. I am proud to be from New Jersey.[more...]

Cost of living - 12/19/2010

Cost of living in New Jersey is high. Sales tax 7%, Exit tax if you move out of the state, toll roads every where, 5 different state tax lines out of your paycheck. Recreation is very limited. If you are a hard worker you will usually be able to find work in this state, just be ready to give a lot of your money back to the state, but its better than being unemployed.[more...]

Cost of living - 11/1/2010

It seems that the population of NJ just keeps growing and growing as does the cost of living. Houses are extremely expensive and continue to rise, including in the areas that used to be more affordable. The problem is that annual incomes are not rising to meet the increases in living cost. The difference in salary from northern Jersey to southern Jersey are astounding. The excuse used to be "cost of living" but now central/southern Jersey rivals northern Jersey in cost. Jersey offers plenty to do, the beaches are beautiful.[more...]

New Jersey and you...perfect together - 9/2/2010

Despite out sterotyped image of big hair and loud mouths....New Jersey truly is a great place to live. New Jersey is the sum of its suburbs; to the North you have New York City, and to the South, Philadelphia. Being so close to 2 major city gives you the advantage of the big city life with comfortable suburban living. You have access to restaurants, museums, zoos, aquariums, plays, symphonies, the ballet, sports teams.... To the east you have the beautiful shoreline with relaxing beaches....and to the west...mountains, hiking and camping. The newly revived Atlantic City, provides the traditional gaming entertainment coupled now with shows, concerts, comedy, outet shopping, and top notch restaurants. If you are still not satisfied with all there is to do in and around New Jersey, we are a short drive from Washington DC and Boston. Access to transportation especially international airports is easy, and give you many options for planning your getaways. The climate in New Jersey is relatively mild. To the North the winters tend to be slightly colder with more snow fall which lends nicely to winter sports and skiing. The southern portion of the state rarely has any significant snow fall. Spring and Autumn are lovely with vibrant flowers or striking foliage. Summers tend to be hot and humid but this is easily relieved with water sports along the Delaware or relaxing at the beach. For those wanting to live away from the hussle and bussle...New Jersey has a copious amount of farm land and country....for we are the Garden State. Much of the center of the state is horse/livestock and produce farming. At the same time you are just a stones throw from the night life of a major city. With some of the top schools and universities in the nation, New Jersey is a great place to raise a family. Basically anything you are looking for in a place to live you will find it in New Jersey. We need to be renamed the " Opportunity State".[more...]

taxes - 8/8/2010

In general, most residents maintain their homes and take pride in ownership. The people are generally friendly and a lot of young people with children are buying homes here lately. There is a nice cultural mix of people from various countries which provides the neighborhood with a variety of different views and looks. The taxes are one of the highest in the state. The education system has gone downhill and the municipality isn't doing much to change. [more...]

Compared to the resyt of the Tri-state area - 2/2/2010

I have lived on Long Island and have family in southern Conn. And compared to those, I believe that most of N.J. is much nicer then most of Long Island, and I believe a better quality of life then in Conn. Western N.J.(West of Summit) in Particular is very Beautiful with Great schools. Beautiful houses, with lots of land, and alot to do. Although very expensive, very worth it.[more...]

The Beach - 1/28/2010

New Jersey has some of the nicest beaches around and the weather for the most part is very good. The only down side is Property Taxes and School Taxes are very high and they keep going up. We live in a city called Vineland it is a 40 min. drive to the beach going south and a 40 min. drive to philidelphia going north. we think it is a great place to live the only problem is its getting very expensive to live here. If you plan to retire it would be hard to live in this state unless you receive a very larg pention.[more...]

If you don't have to live there, then don't. Over-regulated, over-governed, overpopulated. It has been known to suck the life out of anyone who enters. You ever wonder why there are no toll roads entering NJ but you have to pay a toll on whatever road you chose to leave?[more...]
