My Slice of Heaven - 10/28/2009

Pocono Pines is a small mountain lake town with only two major roads, and when I say major - they each only have two lanes – one in each direction. We are centrally located on top of the Pocono Plateau and have easy access to highways and interstates in near by Pocono Summit and Blakeslee. Pocono Pines is a family friendly area that has been kept beautifully by the area residents and township, it’s picturesque. The communities in Pocono Pines are Lake Naomi, Timber Trails and Pinecrest Lake. Pocono Pines is mostly a vacation area, as a year rounder I find the months of September thru May are very quiet and peaceful, though I do love the bump in activity during the summer months when the lakes come alive and we see our summer friends. Our local elementary school is fantastic and I rarely have to drive more then 2 miles to get anything I need from a local store from people I know personally. We have a rich history surrounding our town connected to our lakes and the old railroad that brought Summertime Guests here starting in the late 1800’s. We offer “small town” hospitality here in Pocono Pines and are very proud of our area and our history.

It's getting like NY and NJ - 6/17/2009

The rents and the food prices have gotten too high for persons living on a fixed income. The traffic is horrendous. The climate is actually WARMER due to the immense amount of pavement put down around here in the last 5 years. Noise levels from nearby roads and highways is extremely high. The light pollution at night has obscured the stars of the Milky Way overhead.
