Roseville, Ca is a nice place to live but you have to be able to afford it. It is at least 40% more expensive to live here than most places. It is cram packed with things to do. Very family oriented. It has an outstanding Mall with top of the line shopping at Roseville Galleria. Roseville is extremely well taken care of from tip to toe it's beautiful. The Roseville PD keep things under control and do a great job keeping out the riff raff. The weather is great up until summer around July thru August which has been known to stay in the triple digits the entire time. We are looking to relocate to a cooler place ourselves. Never thought i'd say that but it's come to that point. The traffic on the other hand is getting worse and there are certain times of the day to avoid being on the roads at all if one can and it will only get worse since they keep building and building. To me...it is just the right size now. From what used to be a small quaint little town to what it has grown into is an enormous difference.

| Roseville, California - 10/12/2015
Roseville is an very nice small/medium sized city; a suburb of Sacramento, which is not (a nice city). Sacramento is a toilet.
Roseville is clean, moderately conservative, with good schools, "All-American" neighborhoods, and a terrific major mall (The Galleria).
While the local county taxes are ONLY 7.5% (not bad, for California), combine it with the rest of the state's taxes and it is an expensive place to live.
Other posters have talked about how close the area is to San Francisco and Lake Tahoe but, one has to like the place they call home more than it's proximity to other places they don't call home. Make sense?
Not a lot of jobs; California is not a place that is business friendly. It's common knowledge, if California didn't have Silicone Valley in the north, and Hollywood in the south it, metaphorically, would be bankrupt by now.
I'd move out of this state if I could convince my wife.
Cheers!

| Excellent for families - 6/16/2013
Beautiful wetland preserves and mighty oak tree enclaves break up the suburban areas making it not so cookie cutter. Traffic not too bad on most streets, however if you commute to Sacramento, another story. I read it has the most bike/walking trails and voted the skinniest city in American-maybe this is why. Great schools and some charter school options. Not good for singles who want a night life, but close to Sacramento, so not a problem. Great malls- Galleria and Fountains. The most restaurants per population and close to wineries, lakes, rivers, quaint historical towns and Lake Tahoe 1 hour drive for skiing and 2 scenic hours drive to Reno. Water park and Olympic training indoor pool and many golf courses. Summers are hot, but 95% of the time you can leave windows open at night for cool breeze. Well funded city because of malls and HP, so it is very well maintained and protected- no ghettos or gangs and low crime. Senior communities like Del Webb and Sun City homes aren't staying on the market long because they are very desirable with many amenities and less expensive than Bay Area where many come from. I like it has a Republican majority and love our Congressman. Different races and cultures at schools get along well.

| 25 years in Roseville - 12/15/2010
I lived in Roseville for 25 years. I moved back to North Dakota 4 years ago. I miss a lot about Roseville, but there is no place like North Dakota. The unemployment in the town I live is 2%. I hated the 110 degree temperatures worse than the -20 degree Dakota winters. The thing I missed the most is the rain in the summer. Out of the whole Sacramento Metro area I liked Roseville the best. I would love to be a dual resident.

| Roseville California a great place to live - 12/11/2010
I visited Roseville several years ago from New England and have to say I just loved it out there! It was early winter when I visited and I did not miss the bitter cold of New England one bit! Could hardly believe it was in the 60's and sometimes 70's in Roseville in December. But loved the roads, the big open shopping centers with outside (yes outside in December) cafes!!!! Scads of great restaurants! Am still trying to persuade my family to move out there! Also loved the new houses out there with soaring family room cielings, huge kitchens opening to dining and living areas, extra rooms, dedicated rooms for entertainment centers etc!! Wow. Maybe the summers can have hot days but surprisingly even New England has 100 degree summer days. Well hope to move there soon if I can persuade the family!

| weather in Roseville - 8/20/2010
We moved here 5 years ago from Colorado Springs and previous to that the Bay Area (San Jose). Having lived in the Bay Area for most of my life I still miss it and everything about it a lot. The weather here in the Sacramento Valley can be pretty brutal ... here in Roseville we can average 3-6 degrees hotter than Sacramento since we're right at the base of the Sierras. So far this year we've had a fairly "mild" summer with only a few 100 degree days which is extremely unusual. The 2nd summer we were here we had a spell of over 105 degrees for about 17 days and one day it reached 117!!! Roseville is a nice little town though with great restaurants but if you're looking for a "cooler" summer climate this isn't it. We're grateful for whoever came up with the idea of A/C!!!

| jobs - 6/17/2010
The city is a safe place to live, but far as jobs go I have noticed that most jobs will only hire if you are white. Latin americans have are not very visible in most jobs. I noticed when new companies like, Winco and John's Incredible pizza came to town they would hire anyone. This was refreshing to see different races finally working together.

| Roseville California - 10/10/2009
Roseville is one the best places to live in my opinion. They have great schools, great neighborhoods to live in, and best of all, the community really looks out for one another. My husband and I have 3 kids and although he was recently out of work for a few months, we would never dream of moving anywhere else. Roseville has a small town quality about it. There is lots of shopping & Awesome restaurants, and lots of beautiful country to look at.

| Living in Roseville - 8/18/2009
I have lived in Roseville for the past 16 years. Before that i lived only 5 miles from it for over 32 years. Roseville is a great place to raise a family, the schools in the Dry Creek district are very good, lots of recreation sports for kids. You have a little bit of everything within about a 15 min drive. you still have the amenities of a city but there are spots around town that give you that small town fill. The people are friendly and the crime rate is low. it is the standard weather for California. I love this area.

| Interesting Place - 7/16/2009
Brand new developments, inexpensive golf courses, really good looking women without plastic surgery, lots of families, lots of shops and places to eat, poor drivers along Galleria Blvd (do not know how to change lanes). Some people are natives, others are from the bay area, washington and Los Angeles - no one culture exists. Roseville looks quite similar to Irvine, but the vibe is hard to put a finger on since people here come from everywhere. The guys are arrogant (I have no idea of where this stems from). The adjacent city, Rocklin, is a bunch of racist hillbillies.

Many young families. Lot's of shopping and dining. Close to Folsom Lake and rivers. Close proximity to Sacramento. Many people living here are Bay Area transplants. HOT during the summer months.

| Great Place for a Family to Call Home ... - 8/14/2006
Now don't get me wrong, but if you grew up in Roseville ... Downtown Sacramento was rarely a place you went to ... maybe not true for all native Roseville folk, but I KNOW many of us can relate. I like Sacramento and what Downtown can offer (particularly as far as jobs, living experience and before the Galleria Mall-shopping experience). I love Roseville and below I will give you what "my opinion only" is of Roseville if you are relocating to the area.
City is well-designed and you have everything you need here. I grew up in Roseville and have seen it explode in size, but somehow they have managed to do a pretty decent job monitoring growth through good development plans. Parks are wonderful and so are a majority of the schools. Downtown Roseville has been improved dramatically and continues to do so. You have a lot of good/great golf courses locally both private and public. Water park in town for summertime fun so you don't have to go to Cal Expo anymore and fight the crowds. Raising children here is made easier by the abundance of activities both in the summertime and throughout the year. Very active community for those with little ones put on by the City Rec dept. So much to do. If you are looking for a swinging singles community, this will probably be a boring place to live (minus our mall with high-end lines-Galleria Mall), but wonderful for raising a family. We also have a wonderful retirement community, Del Webb Roseville, on the West side of town.
Close freeway access for most areas. Only drawback is for those commuting to Sacramento how HWY 80 bottlenecks once you enter Placer County/Roseville City lines. This may seriously age you, but many are used to it. If your exit is after the Auburn/Riverside exit ... take a Deeeep Breath. They are taking some means to make this a smoother transition finally. Airport is about 30-45 minutes away depending on traffic.
Established neighborhoods are often intermingled with new ones in the West area. Depends what your needs are ...
Oh did I mention we don't have the PG&E bills of Rocklin & Sacramento? Niccceee. Roseville has it's own power company. Telephone has since been acquired by SureWest for those who remember Roseville Telephone.
Hope you enjoyed my "attempt" to be unbiased about my hometown.

| Pretty good place to live - 8/7/2006
I lived in Roseville for 3 years and now that I have moved away appreciate it much more. There is great shopping, too many great restaurants to mention and a low crime rate I felt very safe there.
Even though it's close to Sacramento I only needed to go there for the airport or concert other than that Roseville has everything you need. The cost of living is quite high but you get convenience with that price.
The summers are horribly hot, so if you like the heat it's the place for you. It's pretty crowded it's had a lot of growth in the past years, but they did prepare with larger roads so it's not that bad.
The surrounding area is nice as well....Rocklin,Auburn,Granite Bay,Lincoln, and Folsom were some of my favorites.
Lots of jobs and good paying ones at that.
Overall I would rate it an 8 out of 10.
