The Decaying City - 8/1/2020

I left Salisbury 5 years ago, but a year ago I had some business nearby, so I decides to visit Salisbury, MD for nostalgia’s sake, it was a big mistake. I’ll admit there doesn’t seem to have as much crime as before, but the place was dead. It was so dead that it’s very hard to tell that Salisbury has a population 30,000 people. The only place full was Walmart. The atmosphere throughout the town was gloomy, and heavy. You could literally feel how heavy the atmosphere was. If I had to describe how Salisbury was I would say it lost all it’s character. The town had almost no local produce, they didn’t have much before, but now it’s next to nothing. The people also has gotten even more unfriendly, more than how unwelcome I felt when I lived there. If I had to chose something close to what Salisbury was like now I would say it felt like the ICU at a hospital. A gloomy and heavily atmosphere. Everyone didn’t care about anything other than what they need to get done, and you hear alarms. Salisbury is literally on life support.

Shitsbury - 12/6/2019

I lived in Salisbury for 10 years before leaving and It’s funny that people keep telling me that Salisbury has very little crime, and that it having high crime is made up. Yet I been involved in 5 violent crimes the year before I finally decided I had enough and left. I’ll tell it as it is Salisbury is only a good place to live if you already have money, family roots, and are white. I have been discriminated against regularly, called racial and homophobic slurs, and threatened for no reason by random people. Even if you disregard the people the local government sucks, and don’t address actual issues. The economy is stagnant, but there are job however trying to find a decent paying job is impossible as much of the companies here pays 2 deviations below the average. Schools are so bad that the teachers don’t even sent their kids there. I actual been threatened with physical violence by a teacher which is great as well. Salisbury being friendly, safe, or having a sense of community is nothing, but hogwash by those who lived in Salisbury all their lives.

Salisbury is Very Safe Almost Everywhere. - 10/15/2019

I am tired of hearing about salisbury having a "high violent crime rate" in these national reviews. It is inaccurate and damaging to property and business owners here. If you avoid the very well known "hoods".. and areas a short walk away from them, which seems to be the case in every city large or small, you will find salisbury to be a very safe and friendly town.

god i hope i get out of here before i die! - 2/28/2010

im in my 30's and lived on "the shore",in salisbury, my whole life. when i was young, the schools were great, summers at the beach were great,(only 30 mins. away) and we never locked our doors. but soo much has changed in the past 10yrs. the schools are poorly run and over crowed, almost all schools have resorted to using portable trailers as class rooms.i have 3 children in 2 diff. schools, niether have air cond. in our 90 degree temps w/100% humidity!leaves you wondering where the ridiculous wicomico co. tax cash is being invested. if u wish to move here dont count on workin because YOU WILL NOT FIND WORK,of any kind. for a "small town" traffic sucks. dont buy anything that has to be outside or garage kept because theres a 90% chance it will be stolen by 1 of are many crackheads, heroine addicts or oxycontin fiends lookin for quick cash. the local police are up in arms, dont really know what to do. just google the sarah foxwell case(R.I.P.)this child was gruesomely murdered rite before x-mas 2009 by 1 of our many sex offenders. long story short,i cant get myself& my entire family out of hell fast enough...but you cant give your house away.its a dam shame, used to be a great place to live:(

great if you were born here - 7/24/2009

I have found Salisbury to be a very hrd place to live. I find a lot of people here have a very negative opinion of those who aren't from "the shore". I moved here for a job and my husband had the hardest time finding a white collar job and eventually ended up setteling. We are not happy with the quality of the schools, the weather leaves a lot to be desired. And as someone else state it seems to be a very backward place. Once the summer season is over and the beach goers leave it is dead here. If you wanna live in a tourist trap Salisbury is the place for you!

expensive for seniors - 7/5/2009

this is a lovely community; but found that the auto expenses are enormous in comparison to florida and some parts of va....however, food costs are out of sight for any indiv. - senior or otherwise.

Public schools need an overhaul to give every child an equal footing.

Climate - 10/14/2007

Regarding the comfort index, perhaps i sort of agree on that. Salisbury is pretty much a comfortable place to live in terms of lifestyle, convenience and very very low crime rate, violent crime is such a rarity. The only crimes i think that people are concerned here are shooting deers out of season, that's all i can think of. The only thing i don't like about this area is the erratic climate. There is no gradual transition in the change of weather. Summertime can get really hot and can drastically get so cold near summer' end.

decent weather but very high crime rate - 5/16/2007

Salisbury has really beautiful weather but the very high crime rate could deter some people from moving here. In addition, there are very few white collar jobs available-- most of the graduates from the top-notch university here (Salisbury University) choose not to settle in this area.
