small town - 8/5/2011

A little southern town with some bad areas and not too much variety in culture besides white and black. Not too close to orlando, lots of outdoor activities, and overall a nice little town.

You need to check exactly where in 32773 a house is located as the properties on the edge of the zip or more like 32746 Lake Mary. All services and shopping tends to be done in Lake Mary. The area is zoned for Lake Mary High School etc., The cost of living is the same as Lake Mary which is higher than average instead of cheaper as indicated.

Sanford has an enjoyable climate yearround. It even has a nice, short cold spell form January to March.

Bland backwater fit for mosquitoes - 6/27/2006

What seems like a quaint town with character at first glance, is actually a dead shell littered with a few empty historic buildings and failing businesses. A hand-full of people have been sitting on key properties in downtown hoping to make a killing for years but it's not going to happen while they run the show. In fact, many of the good buildings have been gutted, burnt down or succumbed to rain damage and the economy of the town is so bad that no one will pony up the money to renovate them. Petty theft is a regular occurrence in the historic residential district so the idea of creating a little oasis among the attractive victorian and Florida vernacular homes is a pipedream. Makeshift churches are found on just about every block in the area so, if you're into bible bashing preachers and small-town ultra-conservative attitudes, Sanford is the place to be. I regret ever setting foot in this backwater.

Downtown is nice - 5/23/2006

I absolutely love downtown and riverwalk. Feels like quaint little town. Housing is absurd! Be prepared to go 30 miles to Daytona or Orlando if you want to do anything other than eat out or shop. Also bring your wallet, can't go out without spending lots of cash because central FL economy thrives on tourist traps and resident or not, you gotta pay!

close to everything - 2/26/2006

i live 10 minutes from sanford-orlando international, 10 minutes from rte 417, 10 minutes from I-4. all of my comsumer needs are with 15 minutes of my home. 40 minutes from downtown orlando.
