Desperate to return to Atlanta - 12/13/2008

I miss Atl
Charlotte, NC

I am a native Atlanta that accepted a job in Charlotte North Carolina. Before you all comment about how Charlotte is a little Atlanta, you must consider the source. The only comparison to be made between Charlotte and Atlanta is the perimeter Atlanta has 285, Charlotte 485. If the newcomers will leave their suburban homes and travel to the city of Atlanta you will have a different impression. Atlanta has so much to offer, I did not realize just how much until I relocated to Charlotte. Appreciate the shopping, at last count I think there were 10 malls or shopping areas surrounding Atlanta. If you like to eat there are restaurants galore, it seems as though a new restaurant opens monthly. Atlanta draws some of the best performers, whether you prefer music or comedy. As far as nightlife, oh how I miss the nightlife, Atlanta ranks with the best of them. There are areas of affordability for every income. It is expensive to live in the city of Atlanta, but name one Major City that is not expensive. For those of us who have children and can not afford 3 bedrooms downtown Atlanta, try South Fulton, Litonia, Chamblee, Doraville, City of Decatur, Lawrenceville, Norcross, Roswell, Marietta on and on. Granted you would not be in the heart of it all, but within 25 miles of any one of those communities you are in the city. People are people, some rude, some racist, it does not matter where you live. If you've relocated to Atlanta within the last 10 years, certainly you have to know the city has changed significantly, crime is up and traffic is a nightmare. Despite those negatives thousands of people continue to move to Atlanta. It is a city that offers something for any and everyone. Charlotte on the other hand is another story. Enjoy Atlanta, get to know the city and the people. You'll miss all Atlanta has to offer when you're gone.
