Montrose--It's a great place to live! Part II

(My first entry seemed to have been cut short. Here is the rest.)
And have I mentioned the view?! To the south are the fantastic San Juan mountains; to the east, smaller, closer mountains; to the northeast are the hills lining Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park; to the north is Grand Mesa (the world's largest mesa); and running down the west side is the Uncompahgre Plateau. This all adds up to not just a lovely view, but many opportunities for outdoor activities, from camping and hiking, to hunting and fishing, to skiing and snowmobiling.
The weather in Montrose is quite pleasant. There are 4 definite, but temperate seasons. It occasionally gets above 100 and below 0, but not often. There are long, lovely springs and falls. Summer evenings are always delightfully cool. The average yearly precipitation is only about 9", meaning few rainy days and little snow. Sunshine is the rule. Irrigation is plentiful in the area, so green lawns are the norm--as well as many small farms.
Schools are generally good, but crowding is a reality that comes with fast growth--and fast growth is Montrose's middle name. New schools have recently been built, as well as additions and upgrades to the remaining ones. We have a great new library, a newer swimming pool, a newer events center, and a newer airport, with flights to several major cities.
Don't pass up the opportunit to check out Montrose, if you're looking for a laid-back western lifestyle, with up-to-date conveniences. The climate is friendly as are the people. Come and see for yourself!
