Review of Yucca Valley, California

Weather in Yucca Valley
Star Rating - 11/1/2011
Having lived in Yucca Valley for 40 years now, I would like to comment on the climate.

I don't know if we (my wife and I) are more sensitive to heat than others, but it seems as if the summers have become increasingly more humid and last longer than years ago. I disagree that it is affordable to cool a home here. For the months of July, August and September, our average electric bill is well over $200 a month. That is keeping the house around 74 degrees.

Winters can feel quite cold when the north wind is blowing. The high desert is definitely a land of extremes with wind, high/low temperatures.

I think one can have 'desert burnout' after many years of looking at dirt and Joshua trees and miss the beauty that newcomers behold. I still love the wildlife and blue skies.
