For some reason, previous posts seem to suggest Huntington is just a bedroom community for NYC. I've lived in the Huntington township for almost 20 years, and have averaged 5 trips to NYC per year, and only under duress. Long Island in general, and Huntington in particular, offer jobs, beaches, a full-service airport, shopping (chain and individual stores)... Huntington has over 100 restaurants and not one Fridays or Olive Garden.

All this doesn't come inexpensively. But when you think Huntington, don't think commuting to NYC. If you want to do that, live in Queens, or Brooklyn, or whatever.

Commute is long - 4/19/2006

I do this commute every day and dont recommend it- the train ride itslef it an hour or more, but you also need to think of time to get to the station and park, then once you get into the city you need to take the subway to where you are going. I spend nearly 4 hours a day commuting. If you work right at Penn Station it's not bad.[read more...]

Traffic is horrible in Huntington - 3/30/2006

Be prepared for a lot of traffic. Some roads are line lane and you will hit a lot of traffic. People drive like nuts on Long Island. The train commute to NYC is done by many people who live there and further East. Long Island is also VERY expensive.[read more...]
