Quality of life in Lynchburg, VA

Lynchburg is beautiful with many good people. However, having lived there for nearly three years, I was very, very happy to leave. For the most part, Lynchburgers fear diversity and change. While it may be a good place to raise children for some, we found the prevailing racism, homophobia, and intolerance to be a challenge for raising children who will eventually leave home and enter the world beyond the Central Virginia region. We wanted our children to have the best start we could give them. Unfortunately, in our opinion, Lynchburg was not the place to do that.
