| MY curiosity. Like jobs are they easy to get? How do they classify you? Your agenda of race? Mostly black or white? Or dose it matter? If I were to move to there from California is it hard getting a job being new there? Or do they care? Are jobs fair and easy to get? Whats the wages there? Just minimum or better? Compare to Cailfornia's wages and jobs are they more full time then California has? Or about the same?

| Political Review of City Government in Southaven - 8/18/2008
My wife and I relocated here recently back into her hometown of Southaven, MS. Since this time we have had our Garage Sale signs pulled up off of the street because of a city sign ordinance that does not allow signs to be posted anyplace in the city. The problem is, if you go anyplace in this town after 5:00pm on Friday night till Monday morning at 8:00am you will see Thousands of signs. In speaking with the local codes department they were not able to provide me this local ord. in writting and said it was " a Good Ole Boy's type law" that they don't enforce on the weekends. Since that time I have been stopped in a local shopping center for doing 30 MPH in a 15 MPH zone that was marked by one sign at the entrance. The same entrance that hundereds of cars are coming at you while you are trying to turn. This seems to be a local money maker for the local government since they decided not to write me a state ticket. The wrote a Uniform Summons that goes directly into the cities pocket at a cost of 233.00.
DUE TO THIS POLITICAL JOKE WE HAVE DECIDED TO SELL OUR HOME AND MOVE TO NASHVILLE, TN. I HOPE THE LOCALS IN THIS CITY STAND UP TO THIS POLITICAL BS AND VOTE THE ENTIRE COUNCIL AND MAYOR OUT OF THIS TOWN![read more...]

| Not a bad place...depends how you look at it - 6/19/2008
Southaven is a great little sleepy town if you have never been anywhere but here. Growing up in Chicago, Ill I can see the blatant differences when it comes to the South. Everything...and I do mean Everything is black or white here. Racism is alive and well. But that is everywhere I guess. On the upside though, it is a great place to raise a family and develop long-term friendships. The crime rate is low and the schools are excellent! The city has grown by leaps and bounds since we move here almost 5 years ago. The jobs are plentiful if you have a marketable skillset...if not then you might be in trouble. Cost of living is low...compared to other cities and the homes are beautiful but prices have shot up with all the migration from the west...if however, you are looking for a place to settle down and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life you may like it here. Besides it's only 5 minutes from Memphis if that![read more...]
