Not a Good Place to Raise Kids
Star Rating - 7/11/2012
The greater Salt Lake City area is a poor place to raise kids as there are too many hazards here:
1.) The smog is bad, and absolutely horrible in the winter months. (and I lived in Los Angeles for many years before coming here). It is bad for their little developing lungs.
2.) The drivers are extremely rude. They will cut you off even if you are right in the way. The probability of a little one being hurt in an automobile accident is very high. The traffic police here only give tickets for speeding. Any other infraction is ignored. Although the "De-Facto" speed limit on the freeways here is 80 MPH.
3.) It is extremely crowded here, and people walk in the streets even if there is a sidewalk.
4.) You will literally live right on top of a major earthquake fault line.
5.) While other states try to keep fireworks safe, Utah recently enacted a law to make it legal for citizens to have powerful arial fireworks for a whole month straight.
6.) There are plenty of oil refineries around here polluting the air, and occasionally one explodes and damages a few houses nearby.
7.) There are more smaller things that make this place irritating.
