Slow pace, rural but not, close enough to Sacramento without any of the problems, close to skiing, boating, hiking, camping. Tahoe, Reno, and San Francisco are close enough for days trips.

Families and kids - 12/28/2010

Auburn is a very friendly town with courteous and helpful cops, smiling neighbors. I have found the service people and those you call for repairs to the home to be uniformly well qualified. Fixit people, and auto mechanics are especially honest and eager to assist their customers. vince johnson[read more...]

Auburn is a very family friendly place. Loads of activities for both adults and families. Lots of mom's groups a big one is Mountain Moms and Little Folks. Nice walkable downtown. Old Town is especially nice. Check out Awful Annie's or Auburn Brew House. The movie Phenomenon with John Travolta was filmed in Old Town Auburn. Auburn is called the endurance capital. Folks here are very active. [read more...]

Great Place to Live - 6/8/2008

At 1,000 to 1,300 feet above sea level Auburn, CA has great weather and is an intersting place to live in the California Gold Country. The area has weekly festivals, music, and farmers markets. The people are polite and life is slower paced than it would be in a bigger city. This is an upscale area of mostly custom homes. It is safe. You do not need to leave Auburn to shop. All in all just a great place for day-to-day living.[read more...]

Just Moved - 2/20/2008

After spending one year in So.Cal, we escaped back to Nor Cal. Chose Auburn for its proximity to a decent sized city (45 minutes to Sacramento), good schools, location in the Sierra Foothills just under the snowline. So far we have been happy with our choice. The county is slightly to conservative for my tastes.[read more...]
