funky little town

Brattleboro is well populated with hippies of all ages (mostly seniors 65+). Many eclectic shops and small businesses, including book stores for all interests and lots of small cafes and eateries. Downside is the few areas (Elliott street and Flat Street) where rude and inconsiderate teens hang out for hours obstructing sidewalks and traffic lanes. Police in this town have a relaxed view of personal behavior, except when aggressively enforcing the speed limit.
