Review of Red Bluff, California

Family friendly town
Star Rating - 3/28/2015
I grew up in this beautiful little town. It is located on the Sacramento River with the river coming right through the town. I don't live there anymore but have family there who I still visit often. It has been hit fairly hard by the down turn in the economy however, it still manages to be a great little town to live in. The people are warm and inviting. Yes, it is on the conservative side, especially for California, and it is a cowboy town. They have a wonderful rodeo in May each year, along with a parade, which is such fun for the whole family. Living here you can also enjoy a close drive to snow skiing in the winter with Mount Shasta and Mt Lassen ski resorts, water skiing in the summer with Lake Shasta and Whiskeytown a short drive to the north, and lots of great places to go fishing. Unfortunately because of the water crisis in California the Sacramento river that runs through the town has had its water levels greatly reduced. You can still jet ski, float down the river, and ski but, the water levels are not what they use to be, which has effected fishing on the river. The people of Red Bluff are good hard working people doing their best and it shows. I would move there again in a heartbeat if I had a good way of making a living there. With the state of California in general I don't know when small towns like this will recover economically but I hope they eventually do. Red Bluff is an example of America's heartland.
