Yerington is in the middle of NOWHERE. It is about 45 min from Wellington (don’t blink or you’ll miss it), and another hour on top of that to Carson City. You have to drive for about 4 hours into Nevada coming from California just to get to Yerington. It’s dirt. All dirt. Plus the mercury, copper, whatever else is floating around in the air killing people. If you have a health emergency / need a visit to the ER, plan on dying or coming close. My mother, who unfortunately lives in Yerington, had a serious medical issue (which after doing some research, learned was a “911/seek prompt medical attention” issue). She went to the “Yerington ER” where the “doctors” were not familiar with what was happening to her (which is not so rare an issue that doctors in an ER shouldn’t know about), and sent her packing. Her amazing friend that took her to the”ER” brought her back to her home where she called me and told me what happened. I told her she needed to go back; she should be at a hospital, it’s a serious issue, and to see if they will ambulance her up to Carson City. She ended up going back to Yerington docs, and they REFUSED to re-admit her because she “was just released.” She is an older person, so what is she to do when told by “MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS” to go home that she doesn’t need to be in the ER. When under the serious physical and mental stress, she was not in a condition to argue. She couldn’t talk. (I’m not gonna tell details of the condition here on the web). Her serious medical problem was going on while at the “ER”, on the way back home, and even while her 2nd attempt at the ER was going on. It continued that day, that night, and the next day, allll the way up to and past her “regular doctor appointment.” She showed up for her “regular doctor appointment” still having this 911 situation. Her doctor was not there. Two nurses (practitioners I believe) assisted checking out my mom and told her this was not a “clinic” issue and she needed to be checked into the ER. Come to find out, her sudden serious issue was caused by the last doctor who issued her medication not checking what other meds she was already on. (Here’s where I want to type what would be considered threatening but I’ll keep it to myself since this is about “health” in Yerington, NV.) They did what they did and hours later, my mom “apppeared ok”.
If you are looking for a place to just die, move here. If you are looking for a free suicide assist, go see the Yerington doctor. If you ever need a med evac, that will not happen. You apparently can’t be any further than Wellington if you are going towards Carson City. So it’s a 45 min drive from Yerington to Wellington. Not much hope there. Wonder if the docs there that couldn’t help her received online medical degrees.
Would some other people who read these posts please post any opinions they have about the place?

boonies - 5/10/2011

I don't have a good opinion about this place. I don't personally live here but I know someone who does and shouldn't have moved there - it is out in the boonies and nothing but dirt. It's about 45 min from Wellington, and another hour to even Carson City. If there is any life threatening emergency, the only med evac is as far as Wellington (for people in Yerington). If you are sick or need the ER...Yerington docs are gonna kill you. My mom went there with a serious issue (I'm not gonna put specifics out there on her personal problems), the docs didn't know what the issue was and sent her packing. She called me and told me everything - I researched her issue and it was a 911/get prompt medical attention issue. I told her to go back and see if they could ambulance her to Carson Ciity. She went back and they wouldn't take her in because she "just checked out." She went back the next day (fortunately still alive) to her regular doctor who "wasn't there." Two (nurse practitioners I believe) checked her out and said this wasn't a "clinic" issue but an ER issue and subsequently checked her into the ER. They are saying what caused this serious problem (or made it worse/life threatening) is the doc that issued her meds last didn't look to see what she was already on. All I have heard about the "doctors" in Yerington is nothing good. What happened to my mom is only proof. Anyone who wants to live, I highly recommend re-considering being two hours out in the middle of nowhere. Especially in Yerington with Yerington "docs."[read more...]

THE WORST TOWN IN AMERICA! - 10/25/2010

I GREW-UP IN YERINGTON, LIVED THERE FOR OVER 30 YEARS AND MUST SAY, IT IS A HORRIBLE PLACE TO LIVE OR EVEN VISIT. THE JUDGES AND POLICE IN THAT TOWN ARE VERY CORRUPT AND TRULY SUBSCRIBE TO THE GOOD-OL-BOY SYNDROME. THE TOWNS JP IS JUDGE MILLIGAN, THAT MAN SHOULD REALLY BE BEHIND BARS! HE IS SO UNETHICAL IT AMAZES ME HOW HE RETAINS HIS POWER, WELL NOT REALLY AS THE GENERAL PUBLIC THERE IS INCREDIBLY IGNORANT..., VERY PETTY AND ARROGANT TOO BELIEVE IT OR NOT. WHAT THEY HAVE TO FEEL ARROGANT ABOUT I CAN'T IMAGINE. I HAVE SEEN AND EXPERIENCED SO MUCH IN THAT LITTLE HELL HOLE IT SICKENS ME! IF YOU HAPPEN TO BELONG TO A POWERFUL FAMILY OR 1 OF THE MANY WEALTHY, IGNORANT, AND TRASHY ITALIAN FAMILIES THERE YOU WILL BE PERMITTED TO DO PRETTY MUCH WHATEVER YOU PLEASE W/O PENALTY FROM THE LOCAL AUTHOROTIES, MAYBE A LECTURE OR SLAP ON THE WRIST AS JUDGE MILLIGAN AND YOUR BUDDIES AT THE LOCAL COP SHOP COVER-UP AND LIE FOR YOU. I MYSELF REJECTED THEIR STUPID LITTLE CLICKS AS MY ITEGRITY AND INTELLIGENCE PREVENTED ME FROM DOING SO. THEY DID INSPIRE ME TO COIN A PHRASE WHILE THERE "LOW THINKERS" AND 90% OF THE POP. ADHERE TO IT.[read more...]
