| re: - 1/25/2010
Wow ! that's an interesting posting. I am very familiar with Edgewater and I researched almost everything you've said and almost everything you said is completely FALSE. For example ...... your reference to the crime statistics are completely untrue and misleading, I see where your going by trying to imagine IF Edgewater was a 100,000 person city and multiplying everything. Even with that bizarre way of looking at it, you are still wrong ! Why don't you just say it for what it is. For example Edgewater reported the following to CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigations) in 2008. 482 total incidents, 0 murders , 0 Sex Assaults, 5 robberies, 43 Assaults( only 6 by hands or feet and 0 with gun or knife), 29 Burglaries, 31 vehicle thefts and 252 thefts. this isn't even close to what you claim of "6,704 incidents, 18.8 murders, 188.3 robberies, 263.7 assaults, 508.5 burglaries, 4,821 thefts, 885.1 vehicle thefts".
Also you mention Edgewood and say it is part of Edgewater, when in fact it is a name of a Lakewood neighborhood and it is in the city limits of Lakewood. It is called Edgewood because it is on the northeast border of Lakewood, hence Edgewood.
West Colfax is a joke when it comes to high crime and danger. I'd walk up down that street day and night and don't have the slightest worry. It is a Joke.
you refer to Edgewater as "urban" Edgewater is a tiny bedroom community. It is far from being urban, it's what we call a suburb.
I researched all these gang killings you speak of.... Hmm? .. Looks like there has been only 1 murder since 2003. And those police shootings were other police agencies (IE Lakewood) shooting people outside Edgewater.
It seems to me since Edgewater has ABSOLUTELY NO STREET CREDIT your trying to build street credit for it on the internet of all things. SORRY, Edgewater has always been a backward Podunk little town and always will be. I think your a little delusional and need to travel outside sheltered Colorado and go visit somewhere that is actually "no Joke". No matter how much you try to hype Edgewater up as some Urban slum it will never be and will always be the safe little town it is.

| Denver--Great City - 1/24/2010
This city is great. Nice weather, not too hot, not too cold. Awesome skiing and snow is fun. City is easy to navigate. People are nice. Denver is becoming more diverse so city is getting more ethnic restaurants and open.
I have children and it's definitely a good place for families. But even single people that I talk to feel this is cool with good nightclubs and party scene.
As soon as the economy improves, this place will be the bomb.

| Denver/Boulder is a strange place! - 1/15/2010
I have lived in several different states in the 5 years. I also traveled considerably as a younger person.
I recently moved back to Denver to support a family member. I lived here several years ago for about a 11/2 years.
Denver/Boulder is a place that is extremely difficult to connect with people with any genuine depth. While there is a outwardly friendliness and a live and let live mentality, people are not inclined to let you in to easily. I enjoy the easy going personalities of most commerce and government employee's. Groups have been a real difficult experience compared to other places I have been. People have their circles and that is the way they like it.
The restaurants are mediocre at best!
The rental's are overpriced and dirty. Landlords/ladies have the upper hand and there is an in general gouging mentality that is common.
The architecture is amazing and I love the old structures.
If you are young, into extreme sports, smoke pot, it's your kind of place!

| Denver Sucks - 11/10/2009
This place looks like a litter box: brown, dusty, dry, dirty, and not a spot of greenery. The people are fake, plastic snobs, who look like ken and barbie (wrinkled ken and barbie in just a few years from all that "outdoor stuff"). They really are Bronco loving rednecks with their hands in their pants to show you they are real men. Give me a break. If you like skiing, the snow is great, but it will take you hours and hours to move an inch on the freeway to the slopes on the weekends. I hope you won't mind all the f'n' posers on the slopes who don't know how to ski in the first place (Vail). If you do ski, go to Steamboat to avoid crowds and posers. The people who are hard core bikers don't follow the f'n' traffic rules, they run red lights, cut you off, and ride in actual lanes for cars. Oh, don't forget all their expensive bike gear! What posers. Oh that climate. It is either 90 degrees or 30 degrees. Heck it was 20 degrees last week and now it is f'n' 80 degrees this week. If you must move to Colorado, I would pick Fort Collins or somewhere north. Forget Boulder. Oh, I forgot the parking lot called I-25. There was a f'n' Bronco game last night at 6pm. It took me over 2 hours to go 20 miles on my way home. When it snows, all the f'n' SUV drivers think they can go 60 miles an hour on ice! Oh, their tires don't slide on ice! Posers! Posers! Tools!!!

| Denver climate - 10/8/2009
Unless you like short growing seasons, want your garden and personal property beat to death by hail, I would suggest you not move here. In addition to that, you will trade your "Fall" and "Spring" for more Winter.

| Possible Relocation - 9/27/2009
I have just read some of the view points about Denver CO. I was there about 10 years ago and I know things change, but I found it to be a nice place. I have relatives that live in the neighboring area and have heard nothing but nice things. I am not sure why there is so much tension regarding the city, but I would like to know if it is worth the relocation. Besides I would like to breath (It is a bit warm in Florida).

| Denver Metro Area - 9/16/2009
For all of you "hatin" on Denver. I suggest you go back to where you came from and take responsibility for yourself.
I grew up here. For all the newcomers if you think we're snotty or aloof, we might have reason. Look at yourself. Think about what you're doing to disrupt our culture instead of you embracing it. If I came into your house and told you what you have to change, you wouldn't like it either.
I've lived in and around Denver since me and God were kids. I know what the Valley Highway is and a Denver without I-25 and I-70. Denver is a comfortable town. It's laid back unless you're from California and think 4 wheel drive means you can drive real fast on snow. And yes, it does snow here. That's why people come here. The fact is, unlike any other place, it can snow one day and you can be walking the dog in your shorts the next. It's a place of extremes. This is a place where you can go to the mountains and get cooled off in the summer. Only July and August are traditionally the worst months for hot. January and February are the worst months for cold. I know, I got my nose frostbit on Mary Jane in February once.
If you have a zest for life, Denver is the place for you. There are so many opportunities for fun here. If you like the outdoors, we have it. If you're not skiing, you're probably biking somewhere. There are very few beaches in Colorado. So if you expect beaches, move to Florida or California. The climate is semi-arid. Get used to bread drying up in a matter of seconds. Semi-arid means a lot of things that are green won't grow unless furnished with lots of water which sometimes we have and sometimes we don't. Don't expect green when we don't. Of course, we don't sweat as much here and hairstyles seem to last longer.
Denver itself is semi-cosmopolitan. We grew up from mining towns and then cow town. Try to blend in to the cowboy culture. It helps in assimilating.
Every thing from 17th street law firms to stage productions can be found downtown. The Annual Stock show is a tradition as well as our Broncos, Rockies, Nuggets and Avalanche.

| Love the Colorado Climate - 9/12/2009
I was born and raised in Minneapolis,MN area. Hot and humid summers and freezing cold winters. I got married when I was fresh out of high school and moved to Colorado around 1972. I've been living here now for almost 40 years and I love this climate. Mild winters and less humidity during the summer months.

| Living in Denver - 8/22/2009
According to my Facebook page, I've traveled to 188 cities in 11 countries. When I graduated from High School, I arrived at the University of Denver. I've been in the Denver Metro Area ever since. It has been good to me, my family and now after college my children are starting to come back to Denver. The #1 reason Denver works for me compared to other places I've lived and visited - it is easy. For the inovator, Denver is very exciting without all the hustle and bustle. And, when you get bored, there is always the twenty square miles surrounded by reality we all know as Boulder just down the road a piece. Vail is 1:45 away with planning, and climb a 14teener along the way. Sand Dunes, Swiss Alps, Lakes, Rivers, Parks and Sunshine are always close by. Come check it out - I'd love to assist with your residential real estate needs....tc

| Lived in Denver, now in Seattle, can't wait to mov - 8/1/2009
I lived in Denver before moving to Seattle a few years ago. If you have plenty of money and don't have to commute, Seattle is a great place to live(except for 9 months of gloom and drizzle). Here's my 2 cents:
Summer weather: Seattle beats Denver
Winter weather: Denver beats Seattle (I know some would disagree, but I would rather deal with the colder temps and more snow in order to have tons of sunshine; with the constant drizzle for much of the year, I feel almost as cold in Seattle during the winter).
Traffic: Denver beats Seattle (Denver has light rail although Seattle needs it ten times worse; I've heard there may be light rail completed 10 miles north of the city where I live by the year 2024!)
Cost of housing: Denver beats Seattle
Overall cost of living: Denver beats Seattle
BOTTOM LINE: Seattle is a great place to visit with lots of fun things to do, but if you want overall quality of life, the possibility to afford to buy a home, and not being stuck in traffic for hours every day, my pick is Denver.

| This place is an uncultured dump - 7/29/2009
COW TOWN! People walking around with 10 gallon hats playing cowboys and indians. Semi-retarded 20 somethings. Just some of the rich, multi-cultural experiences waiting for you when you visit this town. To best describe the aura of Denver, CO is the 16th street mall, where you will find a variety of bums and blonde bimbos hanging out. For anyone that is having a problem dating in this town just wave a $100.00 dollar bill in front of one these bimbos and you should do fine. However, when it comes to conversations, be prepared to talk to people who are clueless about what's the rest of the world all about. When walking down the cracked streets of this Cow Town, make sure you cover your ears with the amount of vulgarity you'll encounter. When walking down Colfax, make sure you stop into the local liquor store or porn shop to truly get the pluralistic experience of Denver; or when traveling through Cherry Creek make sure you visit the Cherry Creek Cricket, with the best hamburger in Denver, (A.K.A) the greasiest crap you'll ever pollute your body with. During your stay in this wonderful town, make sure you make you way down to the aquarium, which with a lot planning has tigers in it. Truly a the planners that put their minds into developing this phenomenon really want you to experience what a bad idea for an aquarium is. The new museum was developed through years of planning that resulted in a spectacular piece of crap in the middle of the city that is blocking the view of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Way to go city planners, another 200 million dollars down the drain. While making your way through your adventure through Denver, make sure you stop by LODO. How can I explain this one? Bars! Bars! Bars! Bimbos, Drunks. This is not being angry at this city, but being realistic. Sure Denver, has a great view of the Rocky Mountains, but this is an "A" typical town that people should not come here for tourism reasons. To live here be prepared for a culture of people who think they are more important than G-d. Rude and obnoxious are not just the adjectives to describe the population, but religious, sport fanatics, closed mind, and ignorant would be some more adjectives to use. This is realistic. Denver, is a Cow Town. It will always have a reputation as a Cow Town. When ever I travel I tell people to stay away from this place. I tell them the truth, the architecture is atrocious and the people are rude. Please stay away from this place, yes I have to live here for a while, but unfortunately after living for 15 years this town has now changed a bit, just added a few more buildings.
