| Small.....smallll town. Yet great to raise a famil - 5/31/2010
If you like lots of shopping at your finger-tips without driving an hour or so you may not like it here. However, it's not a half bad plce to be. We have nice clean Lakes, rivers, golfing horseback riding, about na hour from Branson Mo. a population of only 1,300 ppl. approx. were sandwiched in between two other slightly larger towns, Mountain Home Ar. pop approx. 14,000, and Harrison Ar. pop. approx. 10,000. Very safe places to live. People here are nice, helpful, and the joke here is its a bit like Mayberry! haha. I happen to be a Realtor, and because of my ethics would NEVER mislead anyone as to how nice this area actually is. I grew up here. It's clean. It's safe, The people are nice, and It's home.[read more...]

| Arkansas - A Home Away From Home! - 1/8/2010
I have found Hot Springs, Arkansas to be a wonderful place to live. It's not only very beautiful, but the crime rate is very low. Another thing that is low is the cost of living! And, it's only a forty-five min drive to Little Rock. There's many nice, friendly people and if you love to fish and hike, then Hot Springs is the place to be![read more...]

| Arkansas' natural beauty - 8/1/2009
I'm a Texas transplant to Arkansas, work in Little Rock, live in Benton 4+ years. I love living outside LR, the houses are less expensive, and I feel safe in my quiet, little neighborhood. Arkansas as a whole is beautiful, with lots of mountains & rolling hills, waterfalls, rivers, lakes, etc. The weather here is nice, hot summers & cool in fall & winter. For someone who grew up with extremely mild coastal winters, I love that it snows here about once a year.[read more...]

| Northwest Arkansas - 9/27/2008
The climate of this area is particularly rainy all year round. There are some threats of hurricanes, which develop in Northwest Oklahoma and may pass over NWA. On the upside, the area is developing, as it is the home office of Walmart, who brings businesses into the area. Large shopping centers are located in Fayetteville and Rogers.[read more...]

| NorthWest Arkansas is Alright! - 8/22/2008
I was raised here in Rogers, Arkansas but i recently moved to Bentonville. I enjoy living here in this area of the state. There not might be not much to do but you can still enjoy the pretty parks and lakes! There are great night clubs to go to on weekends! The jobs are endless... Homes are afortable! Apartments are very nice! There's people from all over! The schools are like no other. I graduated from Rogers High School. I really did enjoy the their school system. Now i'm working in a school in Rogers as a translater! I highly recommend the Northwest area![read more...]

| State Parks - 3/8/2008
We have a number of state parks. Visit their web site for details... but the ones I've visited (mostly in the central AR area) have been great!
You can climb Pinnacle Mountain and enjoy the view. It's free.
At the Crater of Diamonds, you can dig for diamonds and keep what you find (but it does cost a few dollars to get in).
Our state has plenty of natural beauty. :)[read more...]

| Bored to tears... - 5/31/2007
Over the past year I have lived in Arkansas, it really is a pretty state. However, if you don't like to shop, like to stay home, not go anywhere and spend money, this is the place for you. There are places to shop, but really it's not all that exciting. Some people on this website have described Little Rock as a "city". Just because it has big buildings doesn't means it qualifies as a city. Cities have culture, a lot of entertainment, great restaurants, museums and are culturally diverse. Little Rock lacks a lot of this. Try referring to it as a big town with a few big buildings. If you like to hike, as I do, there are a lot of beautiful state parks to hike in.
Also, please take caution - Arkansans drives like a bunch of maniacs. They are inconsiderate, and have no regards for other peoples lives, they love to speed, tailgate and fling trash out of their windows. But if you can manage to get away for a Sunday drive, take a tour and see how many produce stands and other quaint little stores have a lot of misspelled words. Squach, anyone?
The cost of housing is pretty cheap, compared to the west, east and midwestern cities, the taxes are pretty low in most areas, but I think they can do better on their schools. It's a hit and miss depending on the town you choose to live.
If it weren't for my husband having to relocate with his job, I'd prefer to leave. I do like that it is quiet and seems to be more relaxed and peaceful, but it would be better to have that with a city nearby that you could escape to for a real night out on the town once in a while.[read more...]

| Best kept secret in U.S. - 11/26/2006
Arkansas is joked about a lot, but it is one of the best kept secrets in the U.S. for a healthy, enjoyable life. Cost of living is moderate, climate is generally very good year round and the Ozark and Ouachata Mountains are beautiful and accessible. Beautiful clear water lakes as well as great kayak and canoeing rivers, you can generally find your outdoor activity here (except for any type of snow skiing).[read more...]

| Arkansas is terrible. - 9/15/2006
Arkansas is probably one of the worst states in the USA to live in. There are nob jobs, no nice cities, or really any decent out door activities that compare to areas such as Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, or Oregon. If you're for some dumb reason debating whether or not to move here, I STRONGLY suggest you to stay as far away from Arkansas as possible.[read more...]

| Little Rock - 2/23/2006

| Austin or Dallas - 2/23/2006
I am a 30 something professional looking to relocate to either Austin or Dallas. I am looking for a more urban experience with plenty of culture, nightlife and shopping, but I also enjoy spending time outdoors particularly on the water. Of course, Austin is the smaller of the two cities, but it has the reputation as beeing much cooler. On the other hand, Dallas seems to have more to offer because of its size. Anyone have any thoughts about which city makes the most sense?[read more...]
