Columbus OH/Dublin,

Very comfortable suburban living for half of the year. Columbus has a low cost of living, areas of low crime, it's a state capital, and a huge college town. Great zoo and if you like cheap golf then there are plenty of places for that. It is not a typical urban city and not a big nightlife city. Others finding it "boring". Fared better than most of Ohio in the downturn but still adversely affected. From Nov - March this is not a good place in my opinion as it is cold and grey most of the time. Some folks like winter sports and enjoy that time and the cold. I'm not one of them but April-October has kept me here. There are some really nice folks here and that counts for something.

Dublin, Ohio graet place to live - 2/26/2013

Dublin is a quiet northwest suburb of Columbus where people value their children's education and safety. Great place to live for settled single individuals, families, and the elderly. Columbus is a 20minute drive away to enjoy urban attractions and night life.

Dublin Ohio: America's best little town - 10/4/2012

I've lived in many places over the decades and been deployed abroad to several other nations, so I've seen a bit of what the world has to offer. Originally from SW Ohio, about 15 years ago I had the good fortune to purchase a home in Dublin Ohio. While no place is perfect, this little town is nearly perfect for raising a family. Education options for children (and college-bound kids) is excellent. The schools are well maintained, competently staffed, reasonably administrated and diverse (if that's worth anything to you). I am confident in the education my child is receiving in the Dublin Ohio city school system. It is a small town with that small town look and feel (corn statues!?) but I'll take that over high-culture and the high-crime that accompanies it any day. It IS truly suburbia! Dublin is that great little town where you can still walk the streets at night with your kids and dog. Positive points: Dublin Irish Festival, hi-tech sector is strong, Muirfield golfing, great shopping choices, pretty scenery, well-maintained streets, conveniences are close by, steady work for the educated and non-educated alike, nice homes at a decent price, quality utilities, Rec center has much to offer (but it is pricey), relatively non-corrupt local government (sad that in America we need to qualify those statements), much green space, excellent parks and trails throughout. Cons: High tax bracket area, so be prepared for sticker shock on your property bills. Located next to Hilliard. Columbus culture is cliquish and they view Dubliners (especially non-native Ohioans) with a bit of disdain or outright suspicion. Honestly, not much to do unless you like driving through the country. Infra-structure gets a bit cramped on 270 but relatively trouble free as long as you stay out of Columbus. Overall: Dublin Ohio, great place to live, as long as you aren't looking for too much excitement (haha!)

Housing market - 9/30/2012

Housing market fell sharply in 2008 and did not show any signs of recovery until late 2011 and early 2012. House prices are still depressed about 10-15% from 2008 highs. However, unlike Columbus Dublin is strong economically and still attracts more home-buyers than the rest of the surrounding cities in Columbus metro-area.

Weather Not Great - 7/19/2011

I find the winter here to be dreary with not enough sun. I find the summers here to be too humid for my liking. Other than weather it is a very nice places to live

Money Magazine's best places is missing this one! - 10/11/2007

We are recent transplants to Ohio and Dublin. WOW! This city is awesome! We've recently moved from Sugar Land, TX, Money Magazine's #3 spot (what they were thinking I have no idea) and have lived in other "top" cities. Dublin is friendly, well laid out, city officials will return your calls with questions and concerns, communication within the city is awesome and to top it all off the schools are great! We've been able to purchase in what I think is the best neighborhood (Brandon) with what a school official told me had the "best" principal in the elementary schools. This city is affordable for everyone and the quality of life is amazing!! If you are moving to the Columbus area you should definately seek out Dublin!

Living in Dublin Ohio - 5/30/2005

I have been in this area for 19 years and love it. We have three children and being in Dublin is a great place to raise a family. The schools are 9.9 out of 10 on www.bestplaces.net and this is true. The community is kept immaculate and the amenities are many. We enjoy the connected bike paths through the whole community and tunnels under the main roads to keep everyone safe. Our kids can ride bikes to elementary and middle schools, church and the pool. The community center is also within reach of a bike ride and offers many options. Plenty of parks and the city is very good about making everything very pleasing to the eye. I live here and sell real estate in this community and am a very happy customer of my own product (home and neighborhood). Mike Strange HER Real Living 614-336-7590
