Dillon, Montana SperlingViews

I live here because I go to college here. The rent here is cheap but scarce. People tend to be stuck in their ways, and even though I am a fourth-generation Montanan, I get dirty looks and snyde comments about moving to Dillon from another area in Montana--even though I am going to school here! It's frustrating.

Great Place to Live and Raise Kids too! - 5/16/2011

Small town culture with great schools and an excellent medical community. Pre-school through Post Graduate degrees available from caring dedicated teachers. Friendly people who come together to help one another. Town needs new clean industries for good paying jobs so that more of our kids can stay here.[read more...]

Small town living in the Big Sky - 6/29/2007

If your relocating here from a large town or metro area be prepared for some culture shock due to a lack there of. The choices of events may include a Little fiddlers contest, Labor Day rodeo, Bannock Days ghost walk and well,,,that's about it! Basic services and retail stores are here but your Walmarts, Home Depots and such are up the highway 60 to 170 miles away. What is offered here is mainly the vast outdoors for the fishing, hunting, camping and related activities in the nearby mountain ranges and scenic valleys. Being a sparsely populated area lends itself to truly getting away from it all around here. Climate is relatively mild by Montana standards with low rainfall, lots of sunny days and fairly moderate temperature extremes. Roughly two thirds of the residents are local and of course your business is their business because inquiring minds want to know it all! In return though you'll meet many honest, hard working and genuinely friendly folks. If your looking for a slower pace, low commute times, low crime rates and love the outdoors without the crowds Dillon can be a satisfying place to live.[read more...]
