Rising Cost of Housing - 1/8/2007 |
|
|
| My husband and I have been looking to purchase a home for the past couple of years in the Trinidad, Colorado area. It seems as though the cost of housing is skyrocketing in this area. Rent averages around $800 a month and it is quite difficult to find a home to purchase under $150,000. Unfortunately, the wages in this area are not comparable to the cost of housing unless you are employed by one of the companies that work in the gas drilling field. This is quite unfortunate as Trinidad is a nice place to live, if you can afford it.

| climate all year round - 2/26/2013
Trinidad has about 9,000 residents and is the county seat of the very large and quite empty Las Animas County. The winters have many sunny days and few are overcast in the year.
Usually there is little snow or rain, and this area east of the Rockies is rather dry, about with 15.5" of precipitation. Visibility tends to be unlimited, the skies are some of the bluest you have ever seen.
Snow comes more in February, March, and April. It can arrive in a one-foot dump, or as light flakes in 4" levels, but usually melts off during the day or the second day.
If the cloudy days and nights in the Midwest are hard on your spirit, this may be the place for you.[read more...]

| Trinidad is a wonderful place to live! - 8/18/2009
We moved to Trinidad about 2 years ago and having lived in the mountains about 45 minutes west of town for many years we weren't sure we'd like being in "the city." Our worries are over -- it's nice to tap into the many things that are happening in Trinidad, from the yearly BluesFest to the frequent art shows at the Mitchell Museum, to the Farmer's Market at beautiful Cimino Park along the Riverwalk. It's not surprising to learn that the job market is tough here -- as it is across the nation now. Trinidad is a great place to live. Come for a visit .... and stay.[read more...]

I,myself, do not care for Trinidad because of the lack of things to do,it's run down appearance, and the surrounding area of open plains. I have never cared much for the landscape of southern Colorado, but others may like the wide open spaces, canyons, mesas, and mountains that surround the area. 80 miles from Pueblo and about 140 from Denver.Couple of good things...Trinidaddio Blues Festival,If you're a golfer they just opened a golf course (cougar canyon)....mmm that was a couple I guess.[read more...]
