| Politics or Crime? - 5/28/2010
This once clean mid to small size suburban town @40 mins ne of nyc along the shore of long island sound, has become "north mexico;" apart from the related burdensome taxes and cost of living, the local politicos embrace the law breaking; the low to middle class legal citizen can barely afford to stay in the area anymore, both for financial and quality of life reasons. Many of the aforementioned taxpayers make just over the threshold to qualify for the "big giveaways;" In lieu of a long rundown about the related cost to health care, school system, litter, home invasions, stabbings, and murders, and general lack of respect for those who reside here (Sounds more and more like anywhere USA, eh?!)my main purpose for posting is to alert you'all, that several years ago, 5 known illegal hispanic males were allowed to sue the village of mamaroneck all under the same name of JOHN DOE!!! (I kid you not) They won.I kid you not. The local tax payers had to shoulder this 6+ million dollar burden - I kid you not. They claimed harrassment simply because the police, after several years of growing concern that day laborers waiting to be picked up on a main street at a main intersection near apt bldgs and a school (high traffic area) was snarling traffic (police had been hands off to our new residents for years most probably by the rich and politicos in the area) By ignoring this for years, the numbers swelled from a couple dozen, to many times that, not to mention the public pissing and defecation in broad daylight. Again, i kid you not. The police finally started to perform the job that they neglected for too long, which was to simply ask them to move on; they didn't even bother to ascertain their legal residency status!! Police simply wanted to restore some modicum of order. A shame. [read more...]
