There are two distinct Norcross areas. There is one area which is very very diverse in many cultures and modest in income. Then there is the (unincorporated) Peachtree Corners area which is a planned community centered around Technology Park where the housing, working, and shopping are state of the art. This area is very convenient to the Perimeter I-285 and borders towns such as Roswell, Dunwoody, Duluth, and Alpharetta. It sits on the banks of the Chattahoochee River and the weather is fantastic with 4 full seasons.

Beautiful Historic Town is both charming and progr - 10/3/2009

If you've not visited Historic Downtown Norcross, you've no idea about the quality of life in the city limits. True, there is a strong international community along the eastern boundary of Buford Highway, a posh country club area to the northwest, and Chattahoochee River communities including Peachtree Corners to the west, but Downtown connects them all. The Historic Downtown is the heart of the area, where street festivals, fireworks, little league games and picturesque store, restaurants, bar and cafe fronts provide a romantic evening stroll. If you've never ventured off Buford Highway and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, you've completely missed the town. They've got a website now: www.norcrossga.net. As for housing, the city limits is nearly all single-family homes; some historic, many very new with historic architecture. A new $4 million park and the city park provide numerous activities for families. There are numerous private schools and good public schools in the area. And, it's a great off-the-track place to get together with friends for a nice dinner. I know this because I'm from Norcross and have researched the "new" Norcross for an MBA class. I wish it had been more like this when I was growing up.[read more...]

Problems in these communities are handled differently[read more...]

Out of Here! - 5/25/2007

Although we had originally planned to stay in this area for retirement, my wife and I are planning on getting out as soon as we can. With a huge influx of immigrants (especially from Mexico/South America) we now have social problems that we never experienced before. The people who come here are not doctors, lawyers, engineers etc. Day laborers line the main streets by the hundreds seeking work and the crime rate has risen dramatically. Hispanic gangs, prevalant in California, have taken up residence here with the accompanying crime and noise. What once was a good family oriented middle class community, is now the pits. The city/county governments are working hard now to bring it back. However, we are not waiting around to take a chance on the results.[read more...]
