| Beautiful Dallas Oregon - 12/15/2011
Dallas has a VERY mild climate- never gets too hot, and it never gets too cold. It is always green and beautiful. Sometimes I get bored and want more EXTREME weather. However once I had that extreme weather, I would probably come running back to Oregon. It is a very comfortable place to live. [read more...]

| Best Educational System for disabled child I could - 4/14/2009
I live in a bedroom community of Salem, Oregon named Dallas. The population is approximately 8,000 but most work in Salem mostly in state government. It has a very small town feel and had the distinction of having more churches per capita than any small town in the country at one time. You will find it still does. I am a single mother with a severely disabled child and have interviewed many school districts before we moved. He is now fifteen but he has been in this district his entire life. The grade schools are incredible with small glitches in the upper level schools. However, it is not because they do not care, they are incredible caring people. I would highly recommend this town for its schools and the care your child will receive.[read more...]

| Property tax - 12/5/2007
We are evaluating a potential move from Dallas, Oregon and have been evaluating potential costs. I find that the stated property tax rate in our home town appears misstated. The tax rate agrees with my current taxes but ignores that the assessed evaluation is 60% of true market value. The stated rate of $10.32 per thousand should really be $6.19, based on assessed real market value. Has this been the case in other locations as well?
