Decent places to live in Pittsburgh

Think of Pittsburgh divided into quadrants. The "North Hills" is an up and coming area with great school districts (Hampton Twp. medium size/blue ribbon school). South Hills is more populated and has better rail/bus transportation into the city. East Suburbs are okay. And the western suburbs are near the airport and is a growing area.
The eastern and southern and western suburbs probably have more affordable appartment living than the northern suburbs with the exception of the Cranberry area. In the next several years multiple condos are expected to be developed in the "downtown" Pittsburgh area. That is going to be the "in" place to live, I think.
If you like a college atmosphere, try Oakland/Squirrel Hill.
Pittsburghers are friendly and of course, we bleed "black and gold". Go Steelers.
