Help me to decide on concord, NC

I am looking to relocate due to a new job offer in north Carolina. Ive narrowed my search of cities down to Concord. Some of my concerns coming from California is how is the cost of living? of course here it is ridiculously high so i am looking for a new place to start my family. Is it a pretty diverse city? we are a mixed race family (white/mexican) in our late 20's so i am concerned about finding a welcoming city. Also would you feel Concord is pretty safe as far as crime goes? i appreciate any insight anyone might have to help me out!!
