Review of Nacogdoches Te,

I recently moved from Nacogdoches to Dallas
Star Rating - 8/26/2008
Nacogdoches is the oldest town in Texas having been the center of development in Texas, as was San Antonio. However, it was later, somewhat side stepped, as the rest of the state developed. The downtown streets are mostly original brick that were hand made. All kinds of "firsts" were here and are part of most historical "must see" guides.

The city is currently built around the University, Stephen F Austin, by in large. By comparison to many colleges and universities it is quite large. An amazing amount of high quality health care professionals
are available. With the university in town, one has the good fortune to enjoy quality stage productions, large choral and orchestral presentations, noted speakers and statesmen visits, and outside and upscale artists of various descriptions. You just don't get this in other cities of this size.

Also in Nacogdoches, there is the slow moving rural farm life of times gone by. There are beautiful trees everywhere, lakes around every corner- fresh veggies sold by the side of the road - rolling hills with tall pines, and with that, unfortunately comes high humidity. There is not a small or large store, church, road-side cafe, educational facility, or indoor sports venue that is not air conditioned!

What Nacogdoches is not:
• Shopping mecca
• A place with high crime
• A scary place to rear kids
• An environment devoid of spiritual values and teachings
• A hub of party life (maybe in the dorms)
• An expensive place to live

All in all, I think Nacogdoches is a precious gem - unique in it's character and characteristics.

I grew up in Nacogdoches and now live in Dallas.
