Charlottesville- great place to live - 6/5/2007 |
|
|
| I spent 6 years in charlottesville completing my graduate degree. Just moved to Southern California for my new job. I miss Charlottesville so much that it even hurts.
Many people claim that Charlottesville is too expensive, but you get what you paid for there. I believe it's one of very few cities that offer not only great outdoors opportunities but also cultural activities. Plus, you're never stuck in traffic. Those who complain about Charlottesville traffic must have not seen traffic in large cities. Homes and apartments in charlottesville are not nearly as expensive as homes in any big city. Of course, Cville IS more expensive than other cities of 40,000 people. However, it's because this city is much more exciting than those cities, and so many people want to live in Charlottesville.
One problem of Charlottesville is though, there aren't enough jobs there. I just think that UVa professors are so lucky. I would fly back to Charlottesville right away if I could do my current job in Charlottesville.
I have heard many people saying that they are bored in Charlottesville because there is no night life: I cannot believe what they are saying. They must have no friends. When I was in Charlottesville, I had no problem finding things to do on any random day. If you look at the local newspapers (the cville or the book), you can find countless concerts etc.. every night. The local music scene is pretty good in cville. When I lived there, there were at least 5 concerts to choose from every night in that small area. It's better than the music scene in southern california (unless you live in the center of los angeles- otherwise, you have to drive hours to get to LA even though it's only less than 20 miles away, then look for a parking space forever, and pay 20 dollars for the parking space!).
If possible, we would like to move back to charlottesville in the future.
