Being ex military, I have traveled to a lot of States. If I had my way, Id live in San Diego, but I can't afford it. My second choice would be Mn. There are lots of things to do both in the winter and summer. Yes, its slow compared to NY, but I like it that way. The cost of living can be costly but there are a lot of fortune 500 companies that pays well. There are lots of colleges, theaters and lakes. Some of the people are friendly but of course you have a_ _ holes, no matter where you go. The place is clean, the schools are awesome. One gentlemen from LA told me that our ghetto looks more like one of their suburbs :)

Apple Valley - 2/1/2009

Apple Valley is a somewhat boring place to live. Most of the houses look the same. They are painted the same to conform to rules. Mostly chain stores but I prefer going into Rosemount which has an old-fashioned appearing downtown area that is much closer to me.

EXCELLENT HEALTH CARE AND SCHOOLS BUT THE WINTERS ARE VERY VERY LONG AND COLD. THE SUMMERS ARE WAY TO SHORT. THE WEATHER IS SIMILAR TO ENGLAND. COLD, DAMP OVERCAST. GOOD PLACE TO RAISE FAMILY

Nice if you can stand the long winters and short s - 8/14/2006

Apple Valley is a nice place if you have kids but be prepared for very long cold winters, damp rainy springs and a much to short summer. The schools are very good and you are close to Minneapolis and St. Paul. I have lived here for 18 years but the winters have become to much for me and I intend to move to a more mild climate.
