Well, if you're a high school student(I am) there is nothing to do except go the the mall(really small after you walk around 9000000 times) and go to super walmart. there are 2 movie theatres but they are closing and building new ones...but really, how many times can u go to the movies!? Good news, Raliegh County schools get alot of snow days so kids will miss about 4-8 days a year for that!!
Other than that, there is alot of smokers, drinkers, and just rednecks(scary ones)
If you are interested in Beckley because of the proximity to rafting...think again! Once you live here it will be sooo boring to go rafting....in fact many(most) have never gone rafting....and as for skiiing (at Winterplace) its about 30 minutes, but there really are only a few slopes so I dont see the big deal...and only a few people I know actually go there. Beckley is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts. There is an easily accesible ski resort 30 minutes away. Biking, kayaking, canoeing, whitewater rafting in beautiful locations are plentiful within one hour drive or less.[read more...]
