Review of Arlington, Texas

Should You move to Arlington?
Star Rating - 6/21/2015
Should You move to Arlington? well it depends. I am black and I live on the Arlington/Grand Prairie border near six flags. Let's start with the positives: 1. Upbeat vibe-Arlington has a very lively feel. There's Six Flags, AT&T Stadium, several restaurants and sports bars, K1 speed, museums, bingo, and many entertainment venues. The people are heavy into fitness, drive nice cars, have nice apartments, homes, etc. 2.Yes there are plenty jobs, but I will go deeper into that later. This is definitely a good fit for some(we shall explore that topic later as well) 3.somewhat good weather-it's been mostly warm since I moved here in December of 2014. There have been severe thunderstorms, monsoon type rains, and even a blizzard earlier this year. Overall however, the weather has been good. 3.Attitude towards blacks-this topic somewhat will fall into both categories. Whites here act more comfortable around black people for the most part. Most of them are nice, they speak, etc. There are many interracial couples here. And now to the negatives. Remember, I live in Arlington/Grand Prairie, so I am speaking of the whole area. 1. The hiring of blacks-True and all whites act relatively nice, but when it comes to jobs they hire mostly latinos. It seems like most of the blacks work for labor ready or other bad, low paying jobs. If you plan on moving here and your black you'll be ok if your a woman or you get a job first and come with alot of money. I've learned it can be alot of jobs, but are they going to give you one of them is the question? Alot of white people may be comfortable around us, but They like to give the opportunities to people who will entertain them, date them, flirt around with them, and talk how they prefer-either like a white person or with "Yes maam" Yes sir" "No maam, no sir" They definitely skip over bigger black men. If your over 6'0 or over 250 which I am both, you will have a hard time. 2.Latinos treatment of blacks-some of them are ok, but most of them think they are better than us. 3.Blacks treatment of other blacks. If you are a friendly person, you will be disappointed unless you hang around non-blacks. Many blacks here do not speak, and they do not deal strong with other blacks. This is a biggie because I moved from Wisconsin in part because of this. I came down here in part to take care of some things in regard to this. 4. Treatment of low wage workers- You will practically get into a fist fight with these people on these jobs. VERY, VERY disrespectful slick mouths. If they have a management position and you make small money, they will (trust me on this) treat you like dirt unless you are a butt kisser. Should you move to Arlington Yes if you are in a interracial relationship, desire to be, you talk like an educated white person, have lots of money, are a black introvert, have a college degree(maybe) No if you have an urban midwestern accent(like me) if you are a big black guy who does not brown nose, butt kiss or entertain, if you do not already have a job offer, nice environment, but I say no. You'll probably be better off moving somewhere with mostly blacks like Atlanta, Jackson, Ms, or somewhere in Alabama. Texas is overhyped, diversity works for non-blacks. I've been here since December 5th 2014-I still do not have a job in my field and I have nearly 7 years experience(hmmmm) some good qualities, but be careful!!!
