I am so tired of condescending comments about California!! If your crappy attitude is an example of the typical Las Cruces resident, I don't want to live anywhere NEAR Las Cruces!!

Las Cruces does not have the fascade of California but is has the substance. People are real, the food is great, and if you stay away from the East Mesa during rush hour traffic (how bad can it be for 100,000 people?) then it is wide open with many services. It is a good place for retirees but remember this is still a family town, not a rich town. My only complaint is the mall needs to be renovated and some shopping centers needs a spruce up mostly keeping trash cleaned up and lights on the businesses lit up. Please keep the magic alive in this town. There is growth on the East Mesa but there are still many gems and enchanting feelings for this town.

Many characteristics of Las Cruces could be debated, but two mentioned here are not accurately portrayed. The traffic is heavy only relative to Ekalaka Montana or similar community. Rush hour means 5-10 minute delays, not the city-like gridlock implied in this posting. As for allergies, we also thought it would not be a problem in the desert. BIG MISTAKE! From the pecan orchards and really fairly abundant desert plant growth to the very dry dusty winds often topping 40MPH, allergic rhinitis runs rampant. It is a good place to hold stock in Allegra and Nasonex.
