Almost, but no cigar. - 1/20/2011

I love the convenience of Fair Lawn and it's location. It's close to anything you might want or need. The New York City is only 12 miles away, and there are stores and malls everywhere. I have managed to work in Bergen Country ever since I moved down here from another part of Jersey in 1991. A short commute has been awesome. However, it's very congested here. While my job is located only 5 miles from my house, it can easily take me 20 minutes to get to and from home because of the traffic. The schools here are great. Our taxes are also a little high, but there are some amenities in town: a recreation center and a sand bottom pool. I love living here, but it's expensive. I'm glad we're starting out here and if we wanted we could afford to move wherever we want, but the stress of traffic, taxes and the cost of living can take it's toll. I'm hoping to stay long enough for my kids to both graduate from High School and relocate where it's warmer and maybe I'll be able to afford the house I want. [read more...]
