| Fountain Hills is a small urban community on the northeast ourskirts of the Phoenix, AZ metropolitan area. The town is very close to the reservoir lakes on the Salt River that provide boating, camping and fishing activities. The Four Peaks wilderness area is about 15 miles away and provides offroad driving and riding areas as well as primitive camping areas. The area northeast of Fountain Hills is full of backroad primitive camping and hiking areas. The town is not far from the Superstition Mountains, downtown Phoenix museums and culture, 'Rim' country with cooler climate in summer and snow in winter, Native American culture and casinos, McDowell Mountain Preserve, etc.
