| Having been born & raised in Thibodaux, Louisiana, it is w/ such sadness that I write how badly I want to move away from here. Since Katrina, there has been a great influx of residents who don't have any respect for their neighbors or for their property. The noise levels, traffic & crime have increased dramatically. I laugh at the political push to advertise Thibodaux as a retirement community. I can't imagine why someone would want to retire here, unless you enjoy enduring music being played so loud from car stereos that it shakes the dishes in your cabinets...or unattended pit bulls barking non-stop...or having your yard used as a trash can for passing kids...or having your home broken in to...or working w/ a city council that makes but does not enforce ordinances.

Thats because you also have Nicholls State University to contribute to the problem. Im up here in Labadieville and what you said is a carbon copy of what goes on here as well. Labadieville is a spill-over from Thibodaux.

| I hate it here! - 8/8/2006
I currently live in Thibodaux LA. I had this place; even though, the crime here is not bad and the trafic is not bad. However, this city is know place to get ahead unless you are white and/or white and come from money. Black people that live here will never be able to live comfortable unless you win the lottery. Public schools here are not the best and there is none that are better than the other; however, my daughter attends a private school here but the private schools here are probably like the good public schools in bigger areas. I am 38 married with 3 daughters ages 20, 17, and 7 years old with a 8 month old grandboy; I do not know why I did not leave this town when my two older daughters were younger.[read more...]
