Although most teachers work with the students and try to keep all students on the same level, this may litit your childs education. Many times there are somewhat "slower" kids in the class and they ask the teacher to go over things that have already been taught. Racism runs rampant through the school system as well. Durring lunch the people of color are segregated or segregate themselves.

Buckeye - 8/14/2008

Honestly Buckeye is the only kind of industry in perry. When it rains or even a heavy fog in the morning then it smells terrible because of buckeye. Anywhere near the place and it smells terrible. Doesnt seem to matter how far away yolu are from the place some times you just can't escape the smell. That is one thing I most certainly do not miss.[read more...]

Terrible for raising children! - 8/14/2008

Coming from someone who grew up there: There is nothing to do in perry for children or teens. To be quite honest if you move here your kids will most liklely take up smoking weed or worse. Take my word for it I am the only one of my friends who was able to leave and make something of myself. There is literally nothing to keep kids ammused other than smoking drinking and sex. Good luck[read more...]

Growing up in Perry - 5/6/2008

I was born in Perry and spent about 12 years as a child there. Now I am talking about the 80s. Back then Perry looked very different, and had a small town feeling. My family went to New Home Baptist Church(now it has a different pastor), everyone was so friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand. The town was not as big back then, and everyone knew everyone else. Most of my family still lives there and from what I hear from them, they still enjoy living there. My sister works at Buckeye, my brother at the prison and my dad is retired now, he worked at the rock mine. My grandparents have lived there I think about 45 years and still love it. I have to travel about five hours to go and visit and when I do, I run into people who remember me, and they say hello, like no time has past at all. Perry to me, has gone a little down hill, and because of it's low cost of living has attracted alot of low self-esteem, and racist kind of people. All in all Perry will always be my home town, and if given the choice I would move back if I needed to. Thanks for reading my comment, and may God Bless you all.[read more...]
