steamy summers

Evansville is one of the southernmost cities in Indiana, in the southwest "arrowhead" that is bounded on the south by the Ohio river and on the west by the Wabash River. I moved here from Spokane, WA in early February, for a job right out of grad school. February was pretty cold, which surprised me. Not northern plains cold, but the same weather systems do make it down here. Winter here is lousy though in that snow is sparse and won't last long when after it falls - if you are going to have some cold you should get some snow too. Spring was nice, about two months of moderate weather, except for the fairly common severe thunderstorms. Just right of tornado alley, this place is a hotbed of thunderstorm activity. Summer is steamy. Wow is it humid. Sucks. This is not a place for the active outdoors enthusiast. That is the biggest reason I'm looking to relocate in the next two years, but Evansville is also a backwards place. Another story.
