Review of Sedro-Woolley Washing,

More rain than Seattle
Star Rating - 1/16/2008
I don't have annual rainfall numbers to confirm that, but I wouldn't be surprised, as the Skagit Valley town of Sedro-Woolley is further away from large marine bodies of water and closer to the Cascade Mountains than Seattle. I was born in S-W, but just moved back to the area after seven years in Boise -- more of a "high desert" type of place -- and was not quite prepared for the seemingly interminable cloudy, wet weather Western Washington gets from about mid-October 'til at least March. That said, winters are relatively mild (no sub-zero temperatures), but the mountains aren't far away if you like to have fun in the ice and snow. Wind sometimes makes it feel colder. The good news is most of the shops on Metcalf Street - the main shopping area - have overhangs and friendly people so you won't be completely out in the cold. In the summer, it's never too hot, and this area is beautiful. July (after the 4th), August and even September are usually quite sunny and warm, but highs above 90 degrees Fahrenheit are quite rare.
