Westlake, Ohio SperlingViews

I have been living in Westlake for over 5 years and I absolutely love it! Crocker Park is a wonderful place to hang out with the family and pets and there are great places to eat and just relax. There is a problem with the junior high where the assistant principal is a bit overboard. He tries to hard and is very unfair in his ways. The high school is overcrowded and needs some work and the staff tends to show a lot of racism at times. They make comments to the black students and sometimes treat them as if they don't matter. This is not hear say I have witnessed it myself because many times I have been mistaken for a student. There are 4 elementary schools which from personal experience is great. Go Bassett! Parkside which is the middle school is great too! Many ball players live here so its sometimes fun to spot them. Nice homes and apartments too!

Great community but... - 12/1/2006

people are a little stodgy and snobbish and taxes are definitely NOT low. You get taxed for everything, including double-taxed for working in another community (i.e. Cleveland}. Schools are FABULOUS though and overall it's a great place to live and raise a family. Nice mix of parks, nature and all the comforts of suburbia. Much less snow than the eastern suburbs which is a big plus, however it's still cold and gray way too often (like the rest of NE Ohio).[read more...]

Westlake, Ohio is an outstanding community to live - 11/27/2005

I have lived here since 1992 and raised my family. It is a great community. School teachers really apply themselves to educating their students. Traffic is not congested. Taxes are low. I do not know why this area does not flourish more than it has.[read more...]
