Review of Carson, California

Unique distinction
Star Rating - 12/27/2007
Carson is a middle-middle class, industrial city between Long Beach and the South Bay. In the 80s & 90s it was one of the most evenly diverse cities in the country. There was nearly a quarter split of Asians, blacks, Latins and whites and a good sprinkling of Samoans and others. As with much of the US, it's become increasingly Mexican.

Carson has the unique distinction of being the only incorporated city in the USA where the black population earns more than the white population

Carson is between Los Angeles and Orange County and is a 15-20 minute drive from both south and west-facing beaches. It's 20 minutes from LAX and 30 minutes from Orange County's John Wayne Airport. It is also the home of California State University, Dominguez Hills and some of the city's most affluent residents, some in gated neighborhoods.
