| West Springfield, Virginia is a suburb of Washington DC. It is 14 miles from Washington DC. Most of the jobs here are high paying white color jobs. Accordingly, the cost of living is high here. Traffic is bad, and seems to be getting much worse with time. The area is hilly, wooded and beautiful. The winters are relatively mild with only 4 to 12 inches of snow a year. The summers are hot and humid. The springs and falls are wonderful. Overall it is a nice place to live, but expensive.

| Great place to live & work - 4/3/2007
I've lived in NoVA since 1998 and in West Springfield since 2001 and really love it here. It IS very expensive, no denying that, but the jobs are plentiful and salaries tend to be good, and we seem to feel economic downturns late and recoveries fast. The schools are excellent, climate is great. I'm originally from MA and moving down here I discovered Spring is my favorite season and it lasts more than two days!
West Springfield is a great place to do business, I have run a busines there (Springfield/Burke) since 2004 and it became very successful very quickly. On the downside, it is crowded, and traffic and can be a nightmare and daily shopping, errnands, etc can get bothersome. We plan to remain here until we retire and then move someplace more affordable and with a slower pace. But if you are in your 20s to late 50s/early 60s it's a great place to be and if you can afford a house here, when it's time to sell you can pretty much live anywhere.[read more...]
